If we stay with family it’s waste to stay in US currently. India better. You cannot save more than 2k per month. Both must work, so the purpose of staying in US can be beneficial.

It's totally misleading. It's difficult to get 120K /yr (10K/Month) even if you stay in Michigan for 10 yrs. I am speaking of avg H1B holder salary. Of course, it depends on again (software, mechanical, manufacturing, medical etc.,). Initially companies pay 70K - 80K /annum., for few years and when they file GC in the 4th year, they won't provide hike much, till i-140 approval. Avg Expenses for a family (Father, Mother + 2 kids). Rent - 1800 / month Electricity (DTE) - 100 /month (average over the year) Utility - 100 /month Gas (Heater, AC, cooking stove) - 100 /month (average over the year) Internet - 80 / month ( you will get deals for 1st yr only i.e 40/month) Grocery - 1000 / month Misc expenses (household items etc) - 400 /month Car Insurance - 120-150 / month Health Insurance - 500 - 1000 / month (depends on the company) apart from above expenses, you would be having other expenses like car Emi, outings, flight tickets for India, mobile bill, social security, Medicare, 401K etc Note: If your single and sharing apartment (flat), you will save good amount.

you cannot get Family health insurence for $400. what about Social securty, medicare, transportaion? gas, kids education .. etc. I am in USA for 48 yrs. only thing you can save is paid off house + Social security and 401k plan you have. If you are lucky you same some money for retirement. But that is enough for living.
