I'm sorry I couldn't find anything before 2000 in the rrp2 era. The versions they used were so far out I just couldn't find any of them but I do know that they didn't use a horn or a recording before 2000 they just used a goal song. I also could not find the remix of Vertigo that they used in 2009-2011.

For those who don't know, the 9:00 song is made by a French rap band called Loco Locass, and their lead singer Sébastien Ricard has been arrested in June 2017 for drunk-driving. From what I heard, the Montreal Canadiens organization decided to change the goal horn because they didn't wanted to be associated with this singer and his poor behaviors. That's the version I had from a journalist close to the team. And Indeed, the song was hell good.

What's wrong with them? They literally have the best goal song ever with l'Oreille, a song that is unanimously LOVED by everyone. To this day, fans still want it, years and years and years after. Like, what the hell, just bring it back already and keep it forever.

Great video! Though I have to nitpick - the Habs used the Jacknife Lee version of Vertigo from 2009 to 2011. Also, they used Age of Pamparius by Turbonegro during the first half of the 2011-12 season. Finally, the original version of Le But was used during the 2013 playoffs and the 2013-14 regular season before switching over to the CH version of the song.

Before that, the horn was pretty much the roar of the crowd + organ encouraging people to shout «Go Habs Go». I'm not entirely sure. It's likely that it happened due to deterioration but they also could've changed the tone or PSI willingly.

I agree. Our current song had to grow on me because I hated it, but a video of just the song doesn't do it justice. Hearing it live and having fans shout along makes it 100000x better. Definitely in my top 2 but I think L'Oreille beats it
