Born and raised in France. After university I wanted to take a gap year in Montreal. That was in 2012. Fast forward to 2024, I’m still here, living happy, became Canadian Citizen in 2019. Work for an Airline so extremely lucky to be able to travel back and forth between Paris and Montreal often to see my family. Needless to say : I ain’t going anywhere. Montreal is my home 🏠 ❤

I’m a Montreal expat living in Mid-Missouri, US, and I cringe whenever I hear Montreal mispronounced. The first time I heard people pronounce the names of places like Versailles, Bonne Femme Creek, Crève Coeur, etc, and then saw the written names, I couldn’t help laughing. Missouri was part of the Louisiana Purchase, so many places have French names, but they are totally massacred by the locals! Lol FYI, they pronounce “Versailles” as “Ver-sails”.
