I miss the 80s when I found them. Miss my wife. We loved them together. I cry bitteraweet tears when I hear them. I miss her so much and hearing their songs brings her back to me for a little while. I love you Paula

Hoboken NJ was really happening back then. I attended a few concerts in various apartments. The neighbors joined in. No one cared and even brought their rugrats. Lots of immigrants got their first taste of Rock and Roll this way. We raised the rent this way or sometimes just did a benefi for someone sick without insurance. The Feelies were a big part of that scene. They were amazing, especially when they did Patty Smith covers and the like. Hung out with a combo of deadheads and alt people of every stripe. No one had labels, you just came, drank, toked (If that was your thing) and danced like no one was watching.

Probably the best band to come out of NJ ever.

I'd add The Smithereens to that list

Bought the album "Time for a witness" the same year it was published,I saw the video and it was love at first listening. I was 17 ,had my peer group and we were discovering the music i still enjoy most: Gun Club,Dream Syndicate,Plimsouls,True West,Wall of voodoo. We were young,skaters,lived near the beach. We felt invincible

Hey Kyle! Just FYI, both have been reissued via Bar None Records - I think they have CDs and vinyl available to purchase. However, they aren't available on streaming =(
@leamanc Жыл бұрын
@@speedy1227 True, and a shame. They were available on streaming for a short while after the Bar None reissues first came out, but they were pulled for whatever reason-I assume because they licensed those records from A&M.

Saw them last summer (2018) at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC. I only know a few of their songs, but two friends are huge fans and brought me along. I think they played for 2+ hours and every song was rockin'. Man, it was impressive and a really, really great night out. What a band, still making it happen many years down the line. Thank you for a wonderful performance that night!

True story: My College housemate used to work in a Records store in SF. And while he was in town Bono came into his shop before closing, to pick a few new thrills from American Music before going back to Ireland. One of them was of The Feelies, and asked about why them, he said. "First time we heard them was in NYC and we couldn't believe how good these kids were... and from New Jersey? We thought they were trying to play some kind of nerds joke on us, with some Devo class band in disguise, but they were the real thing... it was very HUMBLING listening to them. I still do."

Sooner or later You'll come around Get yourself back up From the ground What you want and What you need What you got Enough to succeed Looking for reality Afore it gets the best of me Wake me up and Don't be late Don't sit around Around and vegetateOh and we're going ... HomeI I don't know what's up ahead Don't think too much it'll hurt your head Take a walk all over town Curiosity abounds Take me down the road a ways Let me in don't make me pay Call me down don't make a fuss Take the back seat on the busOh and we're going ... HomeYeah we're going home

never ever get the credit they deserve. the Feelies influenced everyone in the 80s and 90s. they remind me of Galaxie 500 in the amount of influence they had on the era with little credit

@165Dash5 жыл бұрын
Oliver Foster Well fortunately...unlike many of their peers...the Feelies are still around, still performing and are better than ever. Tours are somewhat intermittent but they have a solid fan base and really electrify the relatively small venues they perform in. Super tight and a really really excellent live act. Have seen them half a dozen times in the past decade and every show has been excellent.

This is a sorta geeky, awkward non-rockstar band with little to work with image-wise, so what’d they do? They went out there and kicked serious musical ass! Yay, Feelies!

musically, the 80's sucked as far as mainstream and radio music. only "underground" bands were the only thing i listened to in those day. The Feelies were my favorite. i was listening to U2 and REM when my friends were saying "who the f@#k is U2 and REM?" The Feelies were the best band to never reach critical acclaim!
