A lens hood might have helped.

Indeed! I usually prefer not to use it to have easier access to switch filters, but on this days it would have made a real difference. Lesson learned...

Good evening Tobis, just now seeing this video. I spent 2 1/2 years in Germany in the early 1970’s, I was stationed in Dexheim which is by Oppenheim and Neirstein I saw a lot of the country but never made it to the Black Forest. Beautiful country to see and photograph. I only wish I could have taken more pictures instead of drinking so much wine and beer. Thanks for sharing with us.

I usually have a lens hood on all my lens and a filter. Also carry a small cleaning kit.

Why no lens hood? That would keep the rain off the lens. Lens hood - ALWAYS!

Great pictures ❤❤, can you tell us a little bit more about the editing process or are these pictures all in JPEG out of camera I like your channel. Did you take these pictures with auto white balance?
@TobisTings
@TobisTings Жыл бұрын
These were all shot in RAW (DNG) and edited in post. Nothing spectacular, basically just adjusted the exposure and the colors a bit. Regarding the white balance: I usually adjust the white balance in most of my photos but on this day the Q2 was on point (in my opinion) on all photos.

@@TobisTings could you maybe do a video, showing your own workflow from taking the picture till the final result on your computer? Do you use any cpl or nd filters ?

@@TobisTings I’d definitely buy a few from this shoot. I’m going to Munich in December and hope to make a ton of photos with my new Leica Q2.

As nice as weather resistance is, it is only a feature and no guarantee. You could save a lot of money and headaches by simply putting a raincover over your camera. There have been enough people that got their gear damaged eventhough they were carefull and weather resistance gear. You are gambling. Some never get their gear damaged, some do. I think WR is more marketing if anything.

Probably true. I am willing to take a risk with the Q2, especially since it does have an official rating (IP52) other than most cameras that just say "weather resistant" or something of the sort without any further information on what that actually means. So far I havent had any issues with the Q2. But you are still right: It would probably be wiser to take precautions and minimise risk even further.

Absolutely disturbing to see s.o. misuse the Q2‘s brilliant viewfinder by only taking pics with the screen on the back, like it was a stupid phone…

Agreed. The only reason I use the LCD in these types of videos instead of the EVF is to give the audience a better understanding and feel for what I am doing. With the Action cam mounted to my chest using the EVF simply wouldn't work as well in that regard. Outside of these videos I almost always use the EVF. So much more natural and easier for everything, especially exposure and framing.

I don't know anyone who can justify buying a $6000 camera if they're not a professional. I guess if you're rich it doesn't matter.
