I'm Finnish and like all Finns, I've been force-fed the Moomin propaganda since I fell out of the womb. I mean I've had my hunches about Snufkin and Moomintroll since I was a kid, but when I got old enough to know how to do research and found out that Tove Jansson was a lesbian and based almost all of her stories on her relationship with her girlfriend, it pretty much solidified it for me as part of the canon.

Season 3 hasn't come out, and so has neither of these gay disasters.

I love how it's a theme by now that they get interrupted just when it's a bout to get real. In the second episode of season 2 Moomin is like: "Today is the day, it has to be! We'll soon be cutting the long winter grass by the stream, where he pitches his tent. And once he's lit his fire, he's sure to tell me all about one of his amazing adventures. And then, as the sun sets over Moominvalley, Snufkin and I will..." *Litte My throws a spool at his face* And in this new episode, Snufkin says "But Moomintroll" - "Yes?" - "I really do..." just when Moominmama interrupts them. The writers know exactly what they are doing. There is no straight explanation for any of this. And I think the fight in this episode just shows how much they really like each other, and it's really realistic. Every real relationship has struggles like this. It made Snufkin really grow as a person and in their relationship I think. I loved the part where Moomintroll said "It might feel great when you've chosen to be alone, but it's not the same when you haven't." with so much pain in his voice, to which Snufkin turned around and ran after him with "Moomintroll, wait!" That part was just so real and painful, and I think it made Snufkin realise how much Moomintroll loves him and how much he is hurting him with his selfish desire for solitude. I know he needs his alone time, but this episode showed us that he normaly uses his alone time to think about Moomintroll xD

Now I’m two seasons in, have a discord server with my friends partly focusing on the show, and have spent $20 on a Moomintroll plush. I couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much, this show has truly made me so much more happy.

As a finnish person, who grew up with watching the original 90s show of Moomins, It makes me so happy that more people are discovering this now :D Moomins were and still are an important and nostalgic part of my childhood :)

I have never watched this show nor have I read any of the books and nor do I know any of the characters in this show but I am already so emotionally invested in this relationship that it is frightening 😶
