It looks like Aria's look. At this $20 price point , it has nice asthetic housing , not bad quality , $10 worth spring tips x3 & reputation of Moondrop. Only down side is fixed wired cable for me. Thanks for early review.

I’m new to IEMs… and I’m deciding between Starfield, Aria, and Chu. Does anyone have any suggestions or personal experience with Starfield versus Aria?
@Precogvision2 жыл бұрын
Between the Aria and Starfield, buy the Aria as it’s cheaper and they sound almost identical (the Aria is a little warmer). You could probably just blind buy the Chu, though. It’s close enough to the other two in terms of tonality at a fraction the cost.
@alejandroelcid2 жыл бұрын
I personally have a soft spot for the Starfield as they were my first iems. I enjoy them as a general purpose iem, and I especially enjoy them listening to podcasts or other spoken content. I would suggest the Starfield, but you could get both the Aria ($80) and the Chu ($20) for about the cost of the Starfield ($100-110). As you are new to iems the Chu would be a good place to start finding what type of sounds or tuning you like. Most Moondrop iems share the same tuning so if you end up liking the Chu you will likely enjoy the higher tiered Moondrops like the Kato, Blessing 2, or Variations.

What does it mean to be more technical? Would you say that the CCA CRA are a better option?
@Precogvision2 жыл бұрын
Technicalities refer to aspects of sound outside of measurable frequency response, so stuff like imaging, resolution, and dynamics. Re CCA CRA, it just depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a bass-y, exciting sound, then yeah. If you want neutral, then no, buy the Chu. Hope this helps!
@teok88552 жыл бұрын
@@Precogvision I want a balanced sound, I fear that the CRA might overshadow vocals and make things sound boomy, muddy or even honky at some frequencies (assuming at 400-600hz maybe im wrong). I want a sound so I can hear the music closest to what the artist intended with having as natural timbre as possible. The imaging from what I can understand from rtings should be dependent on driver matching (in phase, amplitude and frequency) and group delay, but another youtuber said that for IEMs imaging is also dependent on the frequency response tho I don't understand how exactly, especially if we are talking about imaging in games. Maybe the treble response has an effect on imaging somehow? I have already ordered the Chu, hoping they don't lack too much bass and that if they do a simple bass shelf EQ will fix them, assuming that they won't distort or that they don't distort already, which I think should also play a part in imaging. Onto dynamics and resolution I have no idea what exactly they are in terms of sound or if they are measurable. Are they connected to group delay and CSD plots. I would like to thank you for your answer and I do hope to understand somethings better someday, as I am hoping to find a decent IEM/TWS and headphone in the future that will try to closely replicate the sound that the artist intended me to hear. Which I now believe (maybe falsely) is something close to the Harman target for Headphones and IEMs. EDIT: Now that I think about, from my modest testing, but every time I change EQ from the default/factory EQ on my gaming headphones I end up having some problems with imaging in game. Meaning I can't place footsteps/gunshots as well as I could before. Which leads me to conclude that EQ does contribute to imaging in someway.

Actually had the same question. Another reviewer told me bass would sound better but now that I have both the Chu and wired earbuds I have to say the chu is shouty and hurts my ears, making me constantly turn down my volume. If you want analytical bright sound take the chu, otherwise if you want to enjoy listening to music I'd say stick to apple earbuds.

"there's going to be something better and cheaper in several months" Why is this a bad thing, it means everyone else can enjoy it for better and cheaper as well and overall good for bringing up the quality and price down in the market.
@Precogvision2 жыл бұрын
I explained it in the video. It’s usually not a great feeling knowing that when you buy something now, it’s going to be superseded by something cheaper and better very shortly after. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, it’s just something to consider. I’d also like to see Moondrop do something other than effectively making the same IEM six times over.

@@Precogvision in that case what would you like to see? And why should we care how it feels to know a product will be succeeded by something better or cheaper? If you’re looking for purchase justification or unanimous praise for a product, I’m going to be 100% honest: you’d be better off watching/reading a lot of other reviewers. I’d much prefer giving a highly critical, honest review than blindly singing the praises of everything under the sun. At least this way even if I don’t like something, you can extrapolate from my preferences and understand what might work for you - which is critical, especially in a hobby this subjective. That’s just my stance, though, and nobody’s forcing you to watch haha. There’s plenty of other reviewers who are happy to provide you with the alternative :)
