The challenge was to record a clip using the most basic ukulele that Kealoha make, the model UK40, purchased from Music Workshop for less than $30.
The bass track was recorded using a Kala U-Bass. Apart from this, all other sounds are coming from the Kealoha UK40, either played or struck.
The track features a medley of parts of 2 of my favourite Santana recordings. Moonflower, also known as Flor d'Luna composed by Tom Conway and Black Magic Woman, composed by Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac. Both these titles are over 40 years old.
They have been transposed and adapted to better suit the ukulele
The American Latin rock band Santana, was formed by Carlos Santana and gained public attention after their Woodstock performance in 1969.
The video was shot in Far North Queensland, including, Port Douglas, Ellis beach near Cairns, Mossman Gorge, Barron River/ Lake Placid, Wonga Beach and Cape Tribulation.
Equipment used for recording the audio and video included,
M-Audio Fast Track pro, Sonar 7, Behringer C4 mics, Panasonic DMC-TZ40 camera. It was edited using VideoStudio x6.
