I saw this show in Yunnan 2 years ago. Now it is her student that does the dance and it was AMAZING. she follows it up with the peacock dance. both of the dances were so incredibly memorable.

This is truely the masterpiece. I cannot forget this..

I had seen this performance at Kunming and it was very memorable. Superbly and flawlessly executed. I could go to Kunming just to watch this again.

One of my favorite dance masterpiece in my collections of dance. Every time to watch it, I can get different ideas from this piece of dance, that always make me feel secret, subtle, graceful, gorgeous and even feeling of Buddhism!

I've been sending this link to all my friends...I don't know what to say...most mindblowing thing I've seen in a long time! She's so thin-looking in this feed it is surreal..at times it looks like animation...unbelievable! :)

A little intro about the extraordinarily dancer: her name is Yang Liping. She is notably the best peacock dancer in China. She surgically removed two of the bones from her rib cages just for a more perfect performance. Insane, right? She doesn't cut her finger nails for the dance so they are extremely long and fragile. It caused her not able to wash her face with her hands for 20 years. She also can’t eat with her hands for that long. Talk about devotion and sacrifice for art! There’s an old saying “The one wears the diamond crown also must be able to bear its huge weight on the head! “

This is beautiful? This is a dance? An actual dance should have steps, movements, motion, as in using your legs and feet too, lol. You can’t stand in place, twist your upper body and arms into pretzel-like shapes, moving your head this way and that, and call it a dance. It’s really just a series of poses. This woman seems to be very fond of performing hand shadow puppetry. I’d hardly call that a dance.
