Moonraker is goofy, stretches suspension of disbelief, and it's my all-time favorite Bond film.

John Barry always captured the atmosphere of Bond in space with his music. His passing is sad,but his music will carry on for many, many years RIP John Barry.

Can I correct a few this was the most watched Bond film at the box office at the time and had the highest takings. The effects are still so amazing to me, c.g.i has along way to come if they want to convince me.

John Barry also scored The Black Hole in 1979 and some of the music is similar to this sequence.

That film contains some of his best musical works in my mind. Perhaps this track is a node to that film and the musical score.

Unless you actually watch the battle itself you won't understand how good this music works with the film.

@LoveMichiru Actually no. It was a blockbuster and a great hit back in 1979. Although many claim Moonraker was only made to cash in on the Star Wars craze (For your eyes only was originally to have followed The spy who loved me), it still made more money than any other James Bond movie. This record it held for 16 years, until it was finally beaten by Goldeneye. It was only after Dalton had retired as Bond people started to critisize the entire series up to then, and Moonraker got the worst.

So much of this soundtrack was first explored in the music Barry did for the Black Hole, they are soooo similar.

@damienforlan87 the absolute highlight of james bond. all following james bond-movies are freely exchangeable action-movies. you have to take into account the time - moon landings, development of space shuttle - nothing seemed impossible. even president Reagan wanted laser weapons in space.

@McLarenMercedes Actually Ian Fleming intended for it to be made into a movie soon after he completed the novel because he based it off a screenplay of a sci-fi film... back in the fifties.
