"Ma I love him awful", my favourite line ♥ ☺. Moonstruck is one of my favourite movies. It's so .... unexpected. The actors all do a fabulous job and the script is perfection. The music adds depth and a certain poetry, how can anyone not love this movie? Wonderful review Marty. Thankyou so much.

"Old man... I'm gonna kick you 'til you're dead!" I don't know why but that line killed me! This movie is full of one-liners that live on. My favorite scene is after Cher comes home from her makeover and is unpacking her purchases listening to that cool Jazz music. Olympia Dukakis! She was my favorite character. I love her in everything she's done. Watch her in Steel Magnolias and Tales of the City and More Tales of the City.

According to Italian folklore adding sugar to champagne makes it sweeter so it will ward off evil spirits. Eagerly awaiting "Sunset Boulevard" one of my all time favorites.

Yes, and a "Champagne cocktail" is a drink with champagne, cognac, a sugar cube drenched in bitters and a cherry. The sugar cube is dissolved in the drink. I frankly would never dissolve a sugar cube in good champagne--prosecco is fine.

what a movie! MOONSTRUCK is one of the last-"they don't make 'em like they used to" films ever made. it is so sweet, so sentimental, so funny, so dear, so moving. the acting is thrilling on every level. the script is perfect. the direction is expert. I think MOONSTRUCK is a perfect romantic comedy. we don't make films anymore where-if the leads don't get together-we will die! we used to have films like this that were heightened-yes. more like fables in many ways than like real life. but wowie wow. thank heavens for these films. they make us dream, and fall in love, and want the best for people. you want the best for everybody in this film. and you kind of fall in love with everyone ultimately in this film. So glad you loved it as well. it was a huge hit when it came out, and everyone went to see it, and everyone fell in love with it. this movie is simply all about love. I'll take it! thanks for posting.

I know the writer--John Patrick Shanley.(he won the 1988 Oscar for best screenplay) He also wrote the award-winning "Doubt". He's a guy who grew up in my Bronx neighborhood. He's a truly gifted writer (he told me he was "thrown out" of the parochial school we had both attended). Honestly, everything about this film is magical.🌕 Oh, and since it was asked, "La Boheme" was always my families favorite opera.

This is what I adore about your channel. You watch older films (luckily ones that I adore) and your reactions bring me back to the first time I saw the film. Such iconic and memorable scenes and lines (“Snap out of it!” “You’re life’s goin’ down the toilet!”) Among so many others. That has to be one of the best breakfast scenes ever filmed. The Met plaza is iconic (also seen in Ghostbusters) and I’ve been lucky to see La Boheme there. PS I don’t think Peter Gallagher would have done as good a job as Nicholas Cage. (And yes, your trivia section is fab!)

My fav movie! Glad you loved it. It transports you to another world. It's worth multiple watches to pickup on foreshadowing. In the airport when Johnny says its been 5 years since he saw his brother and holds his hand up. He then looks at his hand and cringes.

One of my favorite movies! Top 5 at least. Brilliant script. Brilliant performances. Nicholas Cage is to die for!!! Cher? Fagettaboutit! Gorgeous. Flawless! Norman Jewison’s direction is amazing. I wish more reactors would watch this one. You’re right. It IS fantastic. I’ve seen it at least 10 times and almost have it memorized, and it never gets old! Still obsessed after, what… Has it been almost 40 years? I was just a kid when this came out. Cher was nominated for the Oscar, and all the adults in my Christian community were all up in arms about her scandalously revealing outfit at the Academy Awards. I immediately thought, “I’ve gotta see this movie.” Love from Texas!

SALOME (1905) by Richard Strauss. I’ve seen many performances by different opera companies, including one at The Met. Libretto is a translation of a play by Oscar Wilde. It’s got religion, the infamous dance of the seven veils, and a grisly finale with a disembodied head on a silver platter. Music is spectacular and terrifying. And it’s called a champagne cocktail (well, a poor man’s version anyway) The real one has a sugar cube plus some bitters and brandy in it too. 🥂🍾

I've seen several operas at the Met, and I love the Lincoln Center area. I have several favorite operas, too, but I think near the top are "Traviata" and "Carmen", both featuring women of strong character, though in very different directions. And Carmen is a mezzo, sometimes even a contralto, which, as a low-voiced singer (not at all professional), I really appreciate. Those beautiful paintings at the Met are by Chagall.

i love this movie, thank you for reacting to it. and i love la traviata too. i live "in the bush" but i see opera from the Met actually at the cinema with their worlwide transmissions and i love we have this opportunity now.

Mask 1985, it stars Cher, Sam Eliot and Eric Stoltz. Directed by Peter Boganovich. It is a serious watch.

“Luna” is also moon in Spanish (in addition to Italian, extremely similar languages, I speak both). But I’m surprised to now learn about it being such in Russian!

This reacrion was a delight to watch. I adore this film and it was so fun to get to ride along as you enjoyed it. The Academy didn't give Cher the Best Supporting Actress award for Silkwood (which she absolutely should have won) and they didn't give it to her for Mask (which she was widely regarded as deserving as well), so she got it for this (Oscar's often give awards for people they neglected previously, historically). I THOROUGHLY recommend Silkwood (starring Meryl Streep and co-starring Kurt Russell). No spoilers. It remains superb (and it was the film I first discovered Meryl Streep in as a young early 80s kid... not that its a kid movie in anyway, I was a kid with unusual film tastes for my age).

I have probably seen this film 100 times. No kidding. I can say all of the dialogue lol. So this very Italian movie was written by an Irishman. John Patrick Shanley I think his name was. directed by a Jewish Canadian, the legendary Norman Jewison. I loved your reaction.

Mr. Jewison's family was Methodist but he grew up with and played with many Jewish kids in his neighbourhood. Mistaken for being Jewish due to his name he suffered racist comments and fights as a kid. However, he was fascinated by the religion and through other experiences in his life, he became interested in social injustice as seen in many of his films.

Very good reaction video! My only complaint is when emotional lines are spoken you shouldn't put your face in the middle. Otherwise, I thought you did a great job. Recognizing that street from another film was really cool. I saw Tosca at The metropolitan Opera in 2013...it looked exactly the same as in the movie, even the chandeliers.

33:20 I saw La Traviatta as well, saw it in the São Paulo Municipal Theatre. I really like opera, so others I've seen are Rigoletto, Carmen, Aida, Falstaff, The Magic Flute and, of course, La Bohème. I haven't been to the Opera in a while, and now thinking about it I really want to see something next year, preferably one I haven't seen before. I always wanted to see Dom Giovanni, but where I live, I don't have many options, there are only two opera houses in São Paulo, which is about 100 Km away from where I live. 😞

Another great movie with Cher is Mask, also staring Eric Stoltz and Sam Elliott. I think one of Chers breakout films was Silkwood where she had a part. Ps, they are probably drinking Prosecco.

Ronnie was COMEDIC….. You’re over analyzing!!! Especially with Ronnie and Loretta not being a good fit!! It’s a light hearted romantic comedy so just go with it!! They are a SEXY COUPLE who are in love so just be inspired!
