Canoe The North

Canoe The North

Күн бұрын

We set out on this canoe trip with one goal in mind… We wanted to see some moose!
So we went about choosing a route through Algonquin Park, which included, what we believed to be some prime moose habitat.
Join us on this Algonquin canoe trip, as we quietly explore rivers, creeks, and wetlands, searching for one of Canada’s most iconic and elusive wild animals, the moose.
If you enjoy wildlife, this film is for you! As well as seeing nearly a dozen moose, we also saw lots of ducks, loons, herons, a beaver, and a muskrat!
If you enjoy our films, it would mean so much for you to subscribe, share, and like!
We have added a "Buy me a Coffee" link below for anyone who would like to contribute towards future Canoe the North films:

Thank Jon. Appreciate it. We were fairly lucky that the water was calm….made it quite a bit easier to get some decent footage (although the dogs moving around always makes things interesting). Hope you had a great Christmas and all the best to you and Erin in 2023.

I normally don't watch videos like these but this was just beautiful and so calming. Maybe that's because we're in the midst of winter right now, but I think I'd feel the same even if it were summer. The birdsong, scrambling ducklings, beavers, majestic moose... very grounding and a perfect destressor after a day at the office. You're are beautiful couple, thank you for this video, it was healing :)

I recall, a drive down the highway through Algonquin, and at the base of a hill I saw some cars pulled over and people looking towards a large marsh, I looked to the right, and I saw what appeared to be a black couch floating across the reeds.. And realized it was a moose of epic proportion walking through the marsh, its legs not visible but its body was massive ... So if you ever get the chance to drive through Algonquin, look out for BIG sofas..😎

I am not sure that people understand how very likely it is to see a moose in Algonquin. My sons saw their first ones on a trip out of Kiosk. I shared a cow visit with my dad one year, then a bull was in our path when we headed up to Big Crow the next year, plus a cow and calf the next day. If you go there, into the back country. You will see them, and it probably will not take two visits to see your first one. It is a wondrous site. The beaver, canada geese, loons, great heron, chipmunks, raccoons, and porcupines are all extra, no charge. Thanks for taking us on this trip.

my son and I enter in at the Rain Lake access point (West), have been 3 years now. Year #1 on Rain Lake, #2 on Islet, #3 on Sawyer. We've seen (in order) a chipmunk, a rabbit being chased/hunted by a pair of martin/weasel type animal, loons, and last year a curious/hungry young black bear on our site on Sawyer. But the we have yet to see the majestic moose. Maybe our trip to Bandit Lake next week will be our lucky trip. Wish us luck.

It is amazing that you guys saw so many moose and got them on film in one area during a single trip! Plus beavers, blue heron , mergansers, loons ! The lakes and rivers of that area are truly beautiful , and your photography documents it very well. Thank you both so much for sharing. I've only seen one moose in my life, a cow moose , on the Golden Rd. near Millinocket Maine and Mt. Katahdin. It was at night on our way back to our campsite after indulging on a dinner at a local restaurant . It was pretty awesome! I always hope to see them when I go up there. I've seen herds of deer/ in April , but the Moose elude me. I live on the coast in Southern New England, it's pretty populated down here so, no moose. We do have many deer , black bears, bob cats and beaver in the state forests mostly . I'm going to renew my passport this year and plan to visit Canada in the future! last time I was there, we didn't need passports, I proposed to my wife at Niagara Falls!!! Lol thx again mate!

Thank you for bringing back fond memories of my own paddling adventures in Algonquin Park some 20 years ago! My greatest wildlive encounter was on a narrow winding stretch of (I believe) Tim River, where a moose cow and her little calf blocked our way for what seemed like an eternity, causing a traffic jam of three or four boats, all of us waiting patiently and in quiet awe for her to finally move on. It’s nice to see that not a whole lot has changed in 20 years. I‘d love to go back and show my daughters this beautiful landscape one day, but living in Switzerland now, Algonquin is kinda far away…

Loved the video, thanks for sharing. Wonderful video of the wildlife in the park. Your video brought back memories of my own canoe trip in that area in 2021. I've done those two beastly portages, I was solo. Don't think I'd do them again, but Devine was beautiful....so you never know!
@CanoeTheNorth

Thanks Mark. Ya those portages are brutal (especially that 2.7km one). Good one you for tackling those ones. I don’t think we will be repeating them either 😂. Happy paddling in 2023 🛶
