However, it does inspire you wherever you may be to make the best of what you have. Living in a permaculture village must seem like a dream come true.

Another terrific example of the variability of gardens across the globe. Certainly an important step towards sustainable food systems. I'd love to hear your input as to how cities and the suburbs should be making attempts to lessen the burden that agribusiness has on ecosystems and the wider environment - especially apartment dwellers. Great job!❤

Hi Morag...what an amazing beautifully planned food forest you have. I am so glad I stumbled upon your video. I live in Christchurch NZ and have retired from the workforce to move North back to the family farm to grow a food forest. The hillsides are covered in Manuka, Tree Ferns, Nikau Palms and other Native Bush. The flat land around the homestead however is almost a bare canvas except for lemons oranges, mandarins, lemonades and kiwifruit. I am in the process of planning the food forest around them. You have no idea how your tour has help me figure out where to place things and how to aerate the ground without digging, I had planned to get a digger in lol, I even know now where I'm going to place the chook house. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous garden with us. You are awesome.

I have comfry growing at out place, also called bone knit plant. It is great for farm animals as well as a composting plant. When fed to sick cows they produce more milk and thicker cream. We have mint. Although we don't have chickens it is used for their nesting boxes. Raccoons and mice are not fond of mint. Free range chickens tend to nest in the growing mint areas. I think the small may mask the smell of chickens to predators.

I would be interested to see a breakdown of your food usage; how much is purchased, whether you have livestock, and what you consume from that source, as well as how much is put by and so forth. I try to incorporate lots of edible/herbal/medicinal plants on my urban homestead, but I don't find a large number of permaculture perennial plants that would actually feed someone year round without supplementation with annual veg or grain crops. Do you dehydrate foods? Or use a freezer? Also, I see so many people doing permaculture in climates that can be used to produce year round. It is much more challenging in a cold climate. Can you share this information?

you see i came across ur video just by mere luck i would say and as i was watching it i felt so jealous of u because i want to have all the knowledge that u have about my surroundings but right now i am in a position where i don't grow anything i eat ...i feel like crying......and i watched a video yesterday where this guy called Boyan Slat explaining how he can get rid of 50% of plastic in just a portion of the ocean in the next 5 years........i wish i could stop buying things wrapped in plastic but i have had no connection whatsoever with the soil....i am scared of earthworms n yeah jus getting to like them more now a days as i walk the children to school everyday i see many of them on the cemented path wiggling while its rainy season n kind of pity them n wish they could keep themselves alive n i try to push them towards where the soil is.......but i wish i was a farmer or something i dunno where to start.... :( May God have mercy on me n others like me....thank u so very much for the video...May the good God bless u n ur family.

Thank you so much. Not just you made this amazing video, but you also took time to type all the names of the plants in the description. I wonder, if Brazilian spinach is day length sensitive. I planted winged beans and Egyptian spinach and neither did good for me or others nearby, and it turns out it needs shorter days than Southern California can provide.
@MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife
@MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife 8 жыл бұрын
Brazilian spinach seems to be more adaptable. It grows in my garden all year round - whereas the ones you mentioned are annuals here. In the hot summers, the places I find it growing the most luscious is just under the canopy of a small fruit tree - the dappled light on those really hot days is good - particularly if you have hot/dry climate a more moist nook in the garden would be preferable.

You inspire me to do the same. I wonder how much food I can squeeze in to a. 4th of an acre. I planted 8 trees in 2 weeks and discovered 3 more that needed attention. I also started chopping and dropping stinging nettle for complete nutrition for me and the soil. I got a bunny for the best compost out there and I am working on getting a duck to eat the nasty unwanted bugs. I also watched you last night and am repurpousing old plastic water bins for worm towers in my garden Thank you for the tour of your place.

Oh, dear. I saw that Yacon and thought it was a giant Spider ;) lol. I have just found you and your channel and I am super glad that I did! You have helped reinspire me to do what I know I need to be doing. Thank you so much for that! You really make wonderful videos too. And the Garden is Heavenly!

I believe you called a Papaya tree a Pawpaw. Just wanted to mention that. You may want to review your video. Love the info you share with everyone. Very educational.

Hello Morag, I love-love your garden. I am new to Permaculture design and would love to see more of your garden and learn what to plant together and why. Any tips you have for beginners on how to start would be great, Thank you for sharing.

Hi Morag! I've been wanting to see your garden and this video gave me a good view of it. We didn't get to see the veggie garden, baby called, but WOW! I know it takes time, but I'm heading there. You are my inspiration.
