Plague doctors historically would not have worn any sort of protection. It is commonly believed that 14th century plague doctors wore masks, which were filled with herbs. However, there is no evidence for that until the early 17th century. Certain strains of the plague were eventually realised to be spread by the air, so that led to the masks being used. However, that was not during the 14th century Black Death.

Considering that in the distant past, such a disease occurred but the rot was from the outside and rotted the flesh, it was called leprosy and even until the 20th century they still had colonies of people whom the infection could not be cured nor the disfigurement. Even to this day, leprosy is curable, but not the scarring it causes.

Kunta Don't get me wrong, blood and gore and in fiction can be a ton of fun. Berserk, Hellsing, Bloodborne, Saw, there are plenty of examples where gore for the sake of gore can be wildly entertaining. I just think it's cool when people can turn it into an actual element of the story instead of just being there for show, ya know?

+MichaeI Sorbello I dunno if I'd say the gore in Bloodborne is just for show. I mean, the whole story is themed around the old blood and what it's done to people. It's strikes me as more thematically relevant than just gore for gore's sake. With Hellsing, you could argue it's a vampire story, and an anime at that. Would be odd if there wasn't a shit-ton of blood.

Honestly I thought that Doc (SCP 049) having a family of dark plague doctors would be a cool idea. And they were created by The Lord of Vultures which was one of the gods of pestilence. So their "dad" takes their feudists and the near presents of the Lord makes you diseased and turned them into bird-like humanoids, Plague Doctors. And basically all of Doc's siblings thinks being in good health is a disease and they need to "cure" it. Only Doc and two of his siblings are actually trying to stop their evil family. So yes there will be a baby SCP 049 and he will be cute! I can't wait to wright it. What do you think the doctor in the video would be? I'm thinking maybe either Malpractice or Apathy or just the name Morbus, IDK. More importantly....BABY SCP 049!!!!!!!!!
