About my videos: These videos are a resource for anyone wishing to wake up from the dream of separation. Awakening, enlightenment, and liberation are becoming far more mainstream possibilities than they once were. There are many good teachers out there, and if you resonate with the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, Rupert Spira, or Sadhguru, you might find resources here that address these deeper promptings to investigate your true nature.

The inquiries presented herein are potent and can have powerful effects on the way you experience yourself and reality. If you feel you are at risk of harming yourself or others, these videos and practices may not be the best thing for you at the moment. Seek help wherever necessary which might include a hospital emergency department, a suicide helpline etc.

Fucking Mu. Just seeing the word, hearing the sound, brings up so much frustration that my eyes still fill with tears. For years, I was booted out of the dokusan room. Over and over and over. The roshi’s laughter. Not that! The roshi’s patience and impatience. Back to your cushion! A head shaking no, no, no, no….like a shovel digging up shit on its way to some distant center I wasn’t even sure I believed in. Years of one Zen bitch slap after the next in a context of sangha disfunction, the brokenness of a Roshi navigating depression. Back to Mu. Return to Mu. Nothing but Mu. Let there be nothing between you and Mu. I can still feel the sadness and anger welling up. And the army of doubts. What good is Mu if all this suffering is still here? What good has it done this group? What good has it done this Roshi? Still holding on to Mu. Nothing but Mu. As the sangha fell into more and more disfunction and the demands of my life accelerated, I left the Zen group in a cloud of shame and disappointment. And now here I am, awash in the intimacy of immediacy, reluctantly turning to fucking Mu this morning. Thanks, Angelo. Still hating it. Still fighting it. Still losing. Like it won’t stop come back for more just when I was getting comfortable with the loving peace of stillness, the undoubtable presence of being. What a fucking brute. Why, all those years ago, did it have to seem so utterly distant from this intimacy? Why did no one ever talk about love? So here is Mu is again, never having gone away-my dragon asking, “What’s left to burn?”

One thing is absolutely certain, your (Franc Parler) works for me, this no turning around the bush, has all my attention and deep respect. This being said, I have gone through many masters through the years, but at the end, at the (finishing line) one must cross alone / all one. As for you being a smart ass as you say, well, I've met a few also on the way, and it's always a king of challenge dealing with a smart ass, but, they have this irresistible ( Je ne sais quoi ).... some kind of appealing danger might be the trigger here. 😆 Love you Angel o 💙🙏

@@SimplyAlwaysAwakeas well as Mu did, which is to say, not at all. Then again, at one point I'd gotten really fed up with it all and just relaxed into my daily meditation and unknowing seemed to know itself? But I think for me, anything that seemed like something the discursive mind could get involved in just made itself into some kind of puzzle to be figured out. (Maybe I need to know more about the linguistic history, or the lineage, or the tradition, maybe I need a lineaged teacher, etc etc) Which is why I was being silly about the words. If "Mu" isn't working for you, is it because you're doing what I was trying to do? To learn how it works? To learn it's history? Are you expecting it to open up like one of the Transformers and like unfold into your awakening? Lol

2:00 when you say it’s a bigger fixation to rely too much on an external teacher than to rely too much on your own guidance and will, do you mean that more people have this external fixation or that this external fixation is more obstructive to the awakening process? or, something else? just curious. thanks for all that you do!

The pitfall I’ve run into again and again is putting my attention on sensations, especially ones in my head. Sensations (and other sensory phenomena) aren’t thoughts, so even if we let go of all thoughts, what’s to prevent this? The only solution I’ve been able to find is looking for the thought space and putting my attention there (which has taken some time to learn how to really do) and that feels right but that’s a more specific intention than Mu, so there’s still something I’m missing about this practice.
@philipp176

What is the difference between sensations and thought space?
@RyanBowcutt
@RyanBowcutt 2 ай бұрын
@@philipp176 Putting attention in the thought space allows you to be aware of each thought the moment it arises so that you can immediately release it before its content has a chance to grab your attention and pull you onto the thought train. Here’s another way to put it: We habitually “grab” (believe, try to control, react to, think about, etc) thoughts as they appear, and it’s very hard or impossible to break a habit without becoming conscious of it.

The Self, Me, or I audibly repeats the arising Thought, as if reading a passed Note. OMG, did you see what was on that note? Source says, “Yes, I wrote that note.” lol 😝 WOW, that’s crazy!” says the Self. Source, “I knew you were going to say that, I’m what tells you what to say.” Self, “why do I continue to have these conversations?” Source, “Exactly.” All is contained in the SOURCE. Consciousness and awareness arises spontaneously from the Source; Unexplainable, Unknowable. All Thoughts, Feelings, Hearing and Sense of BEING emanate from the Source. Be Present in the SOURCE, there is nowhere else you can be.

I’m not sure how any of that is relevant to the video (or how you can know there’s a Source without thoughts that tell you so). What motivates you to write up these long flowery comments on seemingly every one of Angelo’s videos? I’m genuinely curious.

@@GumbyTheGreen1I’ve asked him that before too. Cut and pasted sayings. Obviously not watching the videos. Once giving ‘guidance’ on how consciousness is created by a complex brain? Uhh, nope.

@@renko9067 He clearly didn’t write it for this video because he made the same comment on Terrance Stephens’s channel a day earlier. That said, if he copied it from something, it’s not on the internet. Maybe he typed it up from a book or a calendar or maybe he actually takes the time to write these. 🤷‍♂️ He really said consciousness comes from the brain? But here he says it comes from the Source. 🤔

@@GumbyTheGreen1 👍🏻 Yeah he said that. I called him on it so maybe he’s adjusted. The Source is an electronics store. Is that what he means 😂? Angelo brought up one of his omments on a video where he goes over comments, but I doubt he watched the video. I had a terrible zen teacher and don’t like misleading or inaccurate ‘pointing.’ Can be very damaging. And I told him so. He told me he makes these comments to raise SAA’s algorithms or something of that nature 🙄 I love the Gumby avatar btw. It could probably still be recognizable if it were 10x smaller lol

@@renko9067 Wait, I thought The Source was a hip hop magazine. 🤔 I think I’ve heard Angelo differ somewhat with at least one or two of his comments. Sorry you had a terrible Zen teacher. Angelo, I have a question on Mu and it's relevant to something you mentioned in another comment. How does a Zen Master confirm if a student actually had the identity shift with cracking the koan since it's not a conceptual answer.? Since it's not conceptual there isn't much the student could say for the masterto confirm it, does the student just walk into the room with a fire in his eyes and the Master is like "yep he got it"?
@SimplyAlwaysAwake

Generally they both know before the interaction. You don’t crack mu without an awakening. The testing interaction is a mere formality at that point.
