That's a lot of grasshoppers! I remember seeing them in the grain tank when I would get to ride in my uncle's combine as a kid. Don't know how they survive the trip through a combine but they sure do it. Really cool machine you have there Rusty! Thank you for sharing friend, hope you have a good one

Thanks man! Yeah, and then, once it gets close to frost, they all disappear. I still have to clean it out, that is a project as well, lol

Love it! Old combines are interesting to,watch. I don't get to see many Oliver combines!

Amazing how them things can make it through a combine and still be crawling around in the grain tank.

Ya, there were some 2-1/2"ers in there too! I can't close the concave any more either, lol.

@@rustyoldmicrofarm4673 Say what engine is on yours? I've heard both continental and Oliver engines were used in the 33, 35, and 40. I'm trying to track down my Great Grandpas Oliver 88 tractor and it would be cool if I had a combine with the same engine!
@rustyoldmicrofarm467311 ай бұрын
@@MrTGleaner It's a Continental F 226. It was used in a lot of forklifts, welders, and even Willies. My original block was cracked all the way through the soft plugs, so i had to find another one. Most have been scrapped by now. I did find a super hurricane from a Willies, but the ports, and timing gears were different.

@@rustyoldmicrofarm4673 I see. I found a Oliver 40 combine for sale. Its all ready to go engine and combine but the clutch went out on it. I wonder how hard would it be to fix the clutch?
@rustyoldmicrofarm467311 ай бұрын
@@MrTGleaner A lot easier than a car lol. You may even be able to get one from Maibach. Mine is real simple, a nice thing about an engine mounted low.

Your going to be able to start your own custom cutting business here pretty soon! It sounds mean thats for sure. Your going to have to have this guy come over next year and record too

Hahaha,,, Well, there are a lot of parcels being broken up into 10 acres here. But i think this will just stay right here. I am still keeping a lookout for these old machines, i'd love to find another pull type, that would be a lot easier to go down the roads with.

Thanks Ed, Thanks for all the encouragement! Most of this was from the first round and i'm pretty nervous. Standing up, looking for gopher hills, listening for any strange noises of 'clanks', lol. Do you have a lot of grasshoppers there too?

Took some wheat in to the elevator full of grasshoppers. The guy commented on lt and I said they use that wheat for raisen bread. The look on his face was priceless.
