My Mercedes W124 300CE is now painted, a few things to fix and then I need to decide wether to do more and get into a complete restoration or whether to move on and concentrate on my other projects.

You need to test the injection side! First the injectors and then the metering head. Most probably the diaphragm needs to be replaced; easy to do. Also make sure the EHA and the temp sensor is within spec.

I REALLY love this BisMerc series Jack. Such a massive change, the car now looks amazing! This is only my own selfish point of view, but I would really like to see you finished this 100%. You really give people like me the inspiration to try something similar, so thank you for that fella.

Be a lovely thing to keep as a daily driver and you've totally transformed it back into a nice car. If you want it period correct though, the alloy wheels should be the 15 hole type and the frontindicators orange. Your wheels and clear indicators were only original spec on later W124's.

I have an W124 E280 and the left indicator has popped out and gone missing twice on the the motorway, luckily in Thailand a tenner a piece,, i now have it secured properly and for the past 6 months has held in place.. sometimes better off doing the job yourself rather than trusting other people,, my experience anyway.. loving the W124 series awesome work !!

Hang onto it for a wee bit; I’m sure there’ll be a few bits that need doing to keep you busy. It’d be more interesting than the usual YT of buy, do stuff, sell. Rinse and repeat (albeit it’s usually wraps and exhausts). On a positive note, it looks fab. It’s a hell of journey form the car you bought.

Great video as always! The way you sealed the edge of the wheel arches is exactly the same as I have done on my MX5! It works really well and looks good too with a straight edge from the tape. If you used the spray or paint-on type underbody seal, a good idea is to heat it up with a heat gun, this makes it run into all the little nooks and crannies to make sure of a watertight seal.

Amazing metamorphosis of the BisMerc, job well done. On another point. The inside of your garage door looks pristine while the outside needs some attention. Perhaps a sanding and apply some linseed oil, before rot sets in.

What a transformation Jack Think you saved this one from the scrappy. The speedlines look sooo much better. Natural fit. If you can hang on for a while use as a daily like others have said. if by adjusting the screw on the meter head improves the engine. Then this suggests either an over rich or weak fuel mixture. Leaky inlet manifold gasket? (Weak mixture) Leaky fuel injector (rich mixture). Usually idles on autos are a little higher so maybe adjust the idle see if that improves things... Ignition advance weights frozen in dizzy?.. Someone mentioned throttle position sensor. I'd out my money on that or a leaky injector, or air leak... Good stuff 👍

I really enjoyed this episode. Lots of little jobs, which are fun to see you handle. Regarding wheels and tires, you have demonstrated the significant downside to the obsession with low profile tires: the ride is significantly degraded. I get it if you are building a car for ultimate handling, but for a luxury or GT car, or even just a daily driver the trade off is far too great, in my opinion. I currently support a family fleet of 1st gen Ford Focuses (Foci?), and I have had 14 inch, 15 inch, 16 inch and 17 inch wheel variations, so I know from whence I speak! Cheers from very snowy Canada.

It's sometimes helpful or necessary to keep parts, (e.g. valves, pushrods, plugs), in order or relative location. For a six or twelve cylinder car, egg cartons provide convenient storage.

I say take the first offer you're happy with, you probably won't make anything on the car itself, but if it's done it's job as a content creator and you can break even on the rest, then it's kind-of a win! I have a friend who describes his business as buying, restoring and selling old vehicles but he says "my business has three parts; buying old vehicles, I always do that. Restoring old vehicles, I sometimes do that. Selling old vehicles, I almost never do that." So you're not the only one afflicted by getting attached to your purchases!

The economy gauge should always be as far as it can go to the left when idling. So something there is connected to the problem in some way. But you probably already know that. I think you should drive it as your daily for a while after fixing it.. before selling it. And then give it a little review after some time.

You STILL have vacuum leaks! See the "Economy" gauge (vacuum gauge), it should be ALL the way to the left at the stop when idling in neutral with the AC OFF. You will most likely need to replace the injector seals and holders (as well as ALL rubber vacuum lines).

This isn't the kind of car to be diagnosed by guesswork, you need to look at live data and do a component check. You may just need to undo someone elses adjustments or it might just need a transmission service like some comments are suggesting but now I'm adding to the confusion by just guessing what's wrong with it lol. The paint looks really good and something I would always do after a big respray like this is go around the inner edges and inside doors and any areas that are vulnerable to corrosion with an aerosol amber cavity wax. It will keep the water out for years to come.

It's worth pumping the fuel out of the bottom of the tank. Water can collect there to the point where the pump picks it up occasionally and causes the engine to hunt. Never hurts to check it especially on older cars.

Have you checked for inlet manifold leaks? An unsteady tickover or hunting revs at idle can be a symptom of excess air that's being drawn in and upsetting fuel/air ratio at idle. Pinholes or perishing on any of the vacuum lines will also upset idle rpm.

low duty cycle is showing up gummed up injectors at a guess. On higher flow rates than idle this goes away but it's crucial low down at idle, changing the mixture screw supports this as you have likely enriched it beyond the point where one or two of the injectors are leaning out to very low or zero flow. When injectors are not flowing right the fuel tends to drip instead of spray at very low rates and it doesn't sit in suspension anymore so the delivery is lumpy

Hi Jack! Enjoying your Number 27 Bismerc Vlog Dairies whilst storm Eunice currently flies over the low countries. Since you are asking, my two cents here: both! Keep her for upcoming driving season, perhaps do some Number 27 Espressi & Stracciatelli in the Summer. After, find a new home with a fellow YT creator or a keen subscriber✌ And for your consideration, find a good partner for merch to cover rebuild cost and, have some fun! Possibly the HubNut merch partner can help, from my understanding that is Blackwater Studios in Cornwall. To be clear here, I gain nothing from pointing in this direction and it is solely for an idea and helping you get the Bismerc ready for the road, for starters. Thank you very much, great fun, steady progress and a beautful blue Mercedes-Benz right there😎

For the poor idle I'd guess dirty or worn injectors or there's still a vacuum leak somewhere. I've used this cleaner to good effect in the past 'Archoil AR6400-P Max Polyetheramine Concentrate Professional Petrol Cleaner - 400ml' available on Amazon or any injector cleaner containing PEA. I had a slightly lumpy idle on my LS400 and the cleaner fixed it.
