More hotels popping up outside of touristy Waikiki

More hotels are popping up on Oahu but not in touristy Waikiki. Instead, properties are expanding into other parts of town. It's a trend experts said will likely continue due to the demand for convenient and affordable options.

Neither one of those hotels in Kapolei are cheap. I’ve stayed in them both. Many locals stay in them though. And a lot of military and government travelers. Many of the tourist go further west to Ko Olina. Which is more pricey and is away from Waikiki.

Whats "299 Rums"? Also those Kapolei motels are very expensive for tourist, $299-599/nt.

@donaldtrumpy5914 Might be better to get a Waikiki hotel room with a beautiful Hawaiian "view" than the expensive price they're charging at Kapolei which looks like a motel and not much of a view. You would think Kapolei would be cheaper.

Stayed in Kapolei very affordable I liked being away from Waikiki waaayy to crowded

Oh, how the Ewa Plaines changed since I first moved into Ewa Beach back in the early '70's! First plane I saw flying overhead was a Pan Am 747. Kapolei was cane fields. Two lane road into Ewa Beach back then; one in one out. My, My, My.....

Same like Kauai. I remember it as just a sugar plantation island. Now it is expensive hotels and condos.

599$/night is way too expensive for a hotel room for locals but these type of hotels that they are putting inare Affordable...win for the community.
