I enjoy buying vehicles, fixing them up, and reselling as a hobby. I found a sweet 2006 Ford Ranger Supercab 2wd, 4 cyl, 5 spd pickup for $1000 a few months ago and it runs and drives great. It gets 22 mpg and it included a huge contractor lumber rack on it when I got it. I immediately sold the rack for $250 reducing my purchase price to $750. I added several upgrades. I bought a sweet set of offroad tires on nice rims for $200 and sold the much smaller original wheels for $150, so the wheel/tire upgrade cost me $50. I added custom headlights, new stereo with backup camera, vent visors on side windows, bug guard on hood, nice Gator tonneau bed cover, Gator brand bed mat, rail caps on bed sides, and tailgate guard.
This video briefly touches on the mods I've done this past week. I removed the factory manual window gears and handles and replaced with $59 set of factory power window regulators w/motors. I bought a $24 aftermarket 2 door power window wiring/switches kit to complete it. the wiring kit was great. It included illuminated door switches that mount over the opening for the now removed manual cranks. The wires came ready to plug in from door to door. Then I bought a set of power door lock actuators for $8 and a keyless entry kit with (2) remote fobs for $17. Then I had power windows and remote power door locks. My Gator tonneau cover is quite water resistant to the point that I just leave my tools back there most of the time. Its winter here in Seattle, so not a lot of daylight. I bought a $20.99 set of (2) 60" bright light strips. the bed is 5'5" long so the length was perfect. I didn't want to run a switch and wiring all the way to the cab, so I bought a $6.99 door/cabinet switch and installed it where the tailgate shuts against the truck bed. Now the entire bed lights up inside when i open the tailgate and of when I shut it. I plan to buy an aftermarket tailgate key lock so that no one can easily open the tailgate to steal from me...
Lastly, I swapped out the traditional dash lighting to add all red bulbs. It gives the dash a softer, sexier appearance for like $7 at Amazon.
I hope you like my work. Please leave comments and be kind.
