Jose Buono's variegation depends on light. Even if it's totally green (doesn't revert), high light will bring out more variegation.

Great wishlist! So many gorgeous plants! I'm with you on the barnacle encrusted hoyas 💚 The birds circling might be 'kettling' when they use updrafts from a warm source like a sunny highway to get an easy lift up higher then they can rest a little while they coast on their way down. There might be a social safety aspect of it too when they all gather up to do that. Not sure what's near you but many hawks do this :)

@@shaynasuckow5915 I know, right? I’ve been very diligently steering clear, because once I connect with a genus, I find myself becoming a “collector”, and Steve’s Leaves has WAY TOO MANY Begonias! I wouldn’t be able to walk into my house. 😅 But now I’ve done it. I’ve asked them to send me notification when Begonia Lucerne is back in stock! I’ve actually been to Lucerne, which IS where it was developed in the 1800’s, so maybe that will keep me under control? Not too likely, but hope springs eternal! 😊

Hi dear! JB… I have one that I‘ve propagated. The top is in Pon, the base is in soil and on a pole filled with bark. The variegation is not consistent. Some leaves are just speckled, others have gorgeous sectoral variegation. I have a Patriciae. Got her less than a year ago as a one-leaf cutting. She grows like crazy and with huge leaves. I just posted her in my leaf drop on IG yesterday. The leaves come out sooooo gorgeous, with glossy backs and very suede-like fronts. I love it so much. I’m falling out of love with Alocasia. 😢 But a lot of them are blooming at the moment. 🙄 Love me some good polka dot begonia. :) But I always end up chopping them when they get big because I don’t know how to stake them properly. I have a few Amphioxus, several Snow Caps, Maculata, Ferox and Listada. Hoya… I have a good collection with probably 40 different kinds. But the mealy bugs… recently had to cut up and toss most of my Compacta. It was such a gorgeous and full, long plant, with 8 or so vines. :( Tomorrow I need to tackle my Polyneura Splash. And my Finlaysonii. Ugh. I’d love a Hoya Chicken Farm and a Kaimukii (spelling?). The purple Ping would be great for the next Halloween season. 😂 Great video. ❤

@@Lady_Lavandula it’s doing well, there was one time I repotted it because it had a death plug and after that it ended up cycling and sticking to 1 leaf until it got settled into the pot. It now has a small baby in the pot along with 3-4 leaves on the main plant. I’ve yet to suffer mites and other pests on it. Reginae is the next Alocasia I’ll probably get, they’re gorgeous with the dark leaves. And my garden centre carries them incredibly often.

I recently bought a passiflora trifasciata from Steve’s Leaves. I keep it in my IKEA cabinet and it’s been happy so far. I have two minor complaints - one is it’s very thirsty. The leaves don’t retain much water because they’re so thin. It also latches onto everything so I can’t have any other plants near it. It’s beautiful though!

Brilliant wishlist, all gorgeous!! I too lust after Hoya undulata...so unspeakably cool!! So prehistoric looking! I have Begonia chlorosticta, stunning plants. I find that they only thrive inside my propbox with damp sphag in it, which also sits on a heat mat. It will sort of cope with lesser but it only grows and thrives in that warm, saturated humidity, with red growlights! Definitely a terrarium begonia, even more so that most of my other terrarium begonias! I don't know about that particular species of passiflora, but I have feral weedy passiflora that I'm contstantly battling outside, it creeps through the back shed, takes over that whole area...I am really over it. Worth checking if the one you're looking at is the same or not. The one I have is used as rootstock for fruiting passionfruit, and when the grafter bit dies, as it usually does lol, the passiflora rootstock TAKES OVER! lol! I wanted Jose Buono too until I lost the variegation on my Paraiso Verde, and learned that it is temperature dependent - even here in summer I could never get it back. then I learned that JB is the same, so I ditched that idea, though its a gorgeous plant!! Fabulous wishlist!

I love alocasias. I started with them early on and ignored all the “not for beginners” and so proud to say that I haven’t had a rough go. The Dragons Breath is just gorgeous, and I don’t think it’s too hard to find/acquire? Also a side note, my school has a nursery for horticulture students and some of it is open to the public for selling, and I might get a painted lady. I was never a big fan of it, but seeing it in person (and super cheap), I might be convinced. Crazy how sometimes you just need to see something to appreciate it!

I have a pinguicula cyclosecta and it's been super easy for me. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah so we get ridiculous amounts of sunlight. I have it on my south facing window. I even deviate from normal carnivorous plant care and give it tap water from time to time and it does great! I've had it since January and I've already gotten 4 flowers out of it and it's divided for me. I put it in a bulbasaur planter so it looks super precious. I actually had no idea it could go purple! I will keep an eye out for that! I got it purely for it's fungus gnat catching properties, ability to put out flowers, and that it doesn't need high humidity (most carnivorous plants need high humidity). I have also been on the eye out for pasiflora ever since I saw them on @benjiplant but they seem pretty hard to find. I've never seen them in my local plant shops.

So in the last year, I have been lucky enough to make a plant friend who lives just down the street from me, and who has a lucerna. I haven’t been much of a begonia fan, but this one won me over, and I have a happy little rooted cutting now. And hoya undulata has been on my wishlist for a while, but feel out of reach because they are expensive and have a difficult reputation. So clemensiorum is my slightly more attainable wish.

Great wishlist, I love this type of videos ❤. Your wishlist vids realy helped me to approach buying plants more mindfully. I don't buy plants impulsivelly, instead I always put my favs on my wishlist, and before I come across the 'perfect one' on the market, I've usually made my mind whether I really want it or not. I sell the ones that don't 'spark joy' anymore and use the money for my wishlist and plant supplies. Just sold my plowmanii and I'm gonna use that money for some nice self watering pots for my mamei and gloriosum. My wishlist: begonia curtsii 'galaxy', b. bognerii, possibly b. darthvaderiana, phil. strawberry shake (still looking for the perfect plant), phil. burle marx fantasy, p. patriciae (good 'dupe' for the king anthurium - I don't have suitable conditions for that one), anth. waterburianum, vanilla orchid with var. margins (I cant find this type of varieg. on the EU market), and the var. christmas cactus (cant find that one here either).

I got gifted a jose buono baby a few months ago. I didn't really know about it beforehand but it's sure become a favorite! Grows so fast and is so easy. I’d love to see a ping unboxing. I’m not very familiar with them and would love more content about them 💚

I have a few of your wishlist plants, the Alocasia Dragon's Breath, the Passiflora Trifasciata (hard to find in the US too) and the Alocasia Watsoniana. The Dragon's Breath needed a little rehab but is growing back beautifully and the Watsoniana has never given me any trouble. The Passiflora grows like a weed, is very thirsty but pretty easy. Does well in surprisingly low light but you'll get more pink in higher light. I'll share pics on discord.

begonias are absolutely gorgeous plants, as a plant lover that is more into interesting leaves than flowers, begonias are def up my alley since i've seen some really interesting ones, i dont really care what the flowers would look like. i hope i own some in the future =) edit: also i like how some leaves, 2 of them, from a heart when next to each other [ 14:18 ]

The hoya ungulata does better in more moist conditions even though it has thick leaves. Would love to see a ping unboxing. I also love alocasia, anthurium and philodendron lol if it grows we love them

Plant the appeals to me the most is the Alocasia Dragons Breath. I avoid the Philos as they get big and crowd out the other plants. The Begonia Lucerna looks good - I've had too much trouble with Powdery Mildew. The Passiflora is an easy care, grows like a weed latching onto everything in it's path, propagates easily. The only issue is that it is incredibly thirsty.

Ruffles have ridges. Haha. My patriciae has prominent EFNs. So sad. I've done everything to treat, wipe, etc...

I’m getting a new fur baby and getting new plants would have to be nontoxic.. so I’m excited to check out everyone’s list.. and I’ll take Any begonia Also you can propagate your ping by just pulling leaves and put them on damp moss in prop box.. I have 3 varieties and have started a few babies

P. Cyclosecta & P. Weser are easy to care for 🥰 most mexican pings are pretty easy, i mount mine on pumice/lava rock and sit the rock in distilled water at all times i have about 50 different types of pings im obsessed lol I love the Cyclosecta crosses becuase alot of them have a purple hue 🥰 i started with just one tiny cyclosecta and now I have about 30 all from either divisions or pullings! 😁
