Great explanation about the throttle pull. Some guys need to think about their mods and what they can affect. Looks like a decent sled Tom, shouldn't have much trouble selling it.

Odd ball carb might be a ski-doo? Beautiful Vette. Great idea on filling the bowls. I normally pull the pulse line, add a long line to the pump and use my mouth to pulse the pump. I'm going to find me a small funnel.

Just ordered a 3" riser thinking I may not need cable extensions as it appears there is plenty of slack. Appreciate the video - will definitely have to test turning the bars side to side while the sled is on the stand to see if it accelerates unexpectedly. Much obliged.

Great information! I’m getting ready to replace a head gasket on a Polaris 500 Classic Touring. Anything special I should be aware of Thanks buddy! Really enjoy your stuff!
@StreetersGarage Жыл бұрын
Pretty easy to swap out. Just pay attention to the gasket when you put it on. It’s very easy to install upside down and backwards. Make a visual check to ensure none of the coolant passages are blocked.
@raymondheinrichjr.2902 Жыл бұрын
@@StreetersGarage I haven’t received the gasket yet . It’s supposed to be a Vertex by Winnrosa, is that a good one. And is there some sort of indexing so you get it the right way. Thanks
@StreetersGarage Жыл бұрын
Vertex are good. It should be marked with a “E” for the exhaust side. Depending on how you’re reading the lettering it’s very easy to flip it over.

I have the 2000 version of that sled. I am wondering what the maximum lug depth I could install for steep hill climbing. Looking at 1.75 inch lugs on a new track. The hills I need to climb are between lakes and are not long but very steep and full of powder and drifts.

I would invest in a longer skid first. You won’t get much flotation from the 121”

Also there are a number of videos out there on replacing skid bearings. Most seem to use the bulk buy type bearings which are a lot cheaper in cost and quality than OEM. I’m someone who has worked in the HVAC field for over 35 Years until retirement in 2017. It is my experience that you will never get longevity out of a repair Unless you use quality parts. Many of these sleds are approaching 25 plus years old. It seems spending money on the right parts is the way to go. To my point what your replacing lasted a very long time, is it wise to go cheap. One guy on line admitted he expects to do this every year. Seems a little crazy to me. Your thoughts?

I know this sounds pretty dumb but what kind of oil goes in where the yellow dipstick is?

Not that bad to do. There’s 2 bolts at the back of the tunnel. Remove those and then the airbox. Disconnect the fuel and vent line and slide the seat back.

Hi. You do great video work! Quick question for ya. I picked up 2002 Polaris 500 classic. It sat for 7 years and when put new battery in and drained old fuel in tank I noticed I have no power to lights or electric start. I can’t find fuses. I did the tank fuel line replacement btw. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA
@StreetersGarage Жыл бұрын
No power to the lights is more than likely related to the voltage regulator. On the Edge, it’s located on the left hand footwell if you’re sitting on the sled. Electric start could be either a bad ground or the relay isn’t getting 12v to energize and pass voltage through the large red wire that goes to the starter. You’ll need a multimeter to check it. Also check the keyswitch for continuity at that position.
@gessinmx132 Жыл бұрын
@@StreetersGarage awesome. The starter works now and the lights work during the starting cranking! Thank you. No spark tho. . Wierd. The coil part is 375$ at Moms in Foxboro and I’m hesitant to buy it cuz idk if that’s the issue…. I removed the kill switch from the loop. Still no spark. I checked as many wires as I could and everything seems connected. The sled ran when it was put away…. Idk. Thoughts?
@StreetersGarage Жыл бұрын
Ok. Next step There’s a single black wire down by the recoil. This is the wire for the kill and key switch and throttle safety switch. Disconnect that and check for spark again. If you have spark, then you have a bad switch somewhere. Make sure the back of the sled is on a stand so the track is in the air. If it starts and starts to take off, you’ll have no way to turn the engine off until you turn the fuel off.
