The rut/mating season is in the fall. It was an elk. Male Elk are extremely vocal. They are very aggressive during this season. The moon phase was probably full. This last around 4 weeks. They make deep scary sounds & thrash around.. Make noise if walking around at dusk or sunrise. If if going to a pit toilet. Some People will say you heard a Sasquatch...

I lived at Diamond Lake for a few years. when i was 10 my older brother and i seen a massive creature we can only describe as what we knew to be bigfoot. it was standing in the doorway of our house taller then the door frame and the shape of a huge person roughly 10:00pm. my stepdad at the time was head of security at the resort and the next day he was telling my mother of how he chased something into the swamps the shape of a man but huge and foul smelling.. may seem like just a legend for some folks but to others who have witnessed something and heard its grunts and howls you cant shake our belief. put yourself out there in that dense forest for a few nights alone without a dog and chances are you will experience something you thought was just a made up story.

Just went here a few days ago. It's not far from where I live in Oregon, about an hours drive. Yes, I took pictures and went to the gift shop. That's how I pace myself while writing the book. I dont want to have a moment like in The Shining. Magick requires rest. The best place to get back to normal is a nature walk in a park or climbing. Don't overdo the time in ritual. That's lusting for results and will mess up what you intended to do.

Heard a pterodactyl like sound myself in the middle of the forest , at a cabin I had rented, in the middle of the night. I was having a puff outside alone, and was coughing, all a sudden, a screech like no other, that was probably no further than 25 ft away in the dark.... It scared the bejesus outta me. I got my ass back inside and was shaken. I have done my fair share of middle of nowhere camping and lived on this island my whole life . I have never heard this sound before , and so loud. Had chills down my spine. This was in Tofino , BC on Vancouver Island , Canada's West coast ! I've never heard anybody else describe the pterodactyl sound till now.....

As other commenters have said, it was more than likely an Elk. They make some weird sounds. I have heard similar strange louds sounds in the forest when it was not rut season. I do not believe that there are any Burros around, however, in Big Bear California forest there is a bunch of them and they make some very strange bellowing sounds unlike anything you would think might come from an animal on Earth.

I had to do security overnight for a new condo development near Banff Alberta, Canada. There were elk around and they would scratch trees with their antlers and make groaning and grunting noises, it was rutting season. The scariest part was at about 2:30-3:00 am, I heard what could only be described as a woman screaming in the distance! It almost sounds like a rusty wrought iron gate slowly closing, but scarier! I was freaked the F out! I later learned that elk make that high pitched scream during rutting season, PHEW

I would guess it was a bull elk. Elk have huge 55-gallon sized drum-like lungs and they emit deep guttural groaning sounds as well as a high-pitched whistling during their annual September rutting season. They use those sounds to gather a harem and for challenging other bull elk who already have a harem. During the rut, they are in a very high state of sexual arousal and vocalize both day and night. I don't think it was a sasquatch because the males whistle and croon "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" to attract a mate... ;-)
@JoanVBruce5 жыл бұрын
Love the falls, take care with Elk they are large, don't run if you see one. just casually walk away. don't present a threat. they have a guttural roar, throw the head back and let it go. Probably sound nearer than they are.

And - love the 3D model of Crater Lake & the poster on the wall, at the end. It looks like a woodcut style, rarely seen anymore - so has a nostalgic feel - especially with that early motorcycle! All together - a very satisfying vid, Jimmy! Has a bit of everything!
