One of the main reasons for Wario's Woods not being available was its size, obviously as you said, but not necessarily only that. Wario's Woods was the most intensive use of the MMC3 ASIC memory mapper, and I can safely bet that chip was what made WW so hard to work with. The game is already 256k, and beside that you need to accurately emulate an MMU for an emulator, in 2001, on a GBA.

In Europe it released quite late in the GameCube's lifecycle. IIRC they originally didn't think the sales would justify the cost of translating it to multiple European languages, by that time a lot of retailers had stopped stocking GameCube stuff so it wouldn't have been that widely available. Buying late GameCube games was HARD, I remember having a really tough time trying to get hold of a copy of Resident Evil 4 at release. Kinda funny now considering that game's on more platforms than Skyrim.

The Tingle Tuner in wind waker actually means a lot to me. When me and my little brother were younger he struggled with playing the Wind Waker because he found it to hard to play. One day I received a copy of four swords on the gamecube that came bundled with the GBA Link Cable, from that day forward while I played Wind Waker my little brother would play with me using the Tingle Tuner and we would play together for hours on end like that, just wandering around and having a blast together. The GameCube version of SpongeBob SquarePants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman was originally also going to have a link cable feature that would work both with and without the GBA game of the same name. If you had the GBA game inserted when the link cable was connected to the GameCube, then you would have been able to play a 3D version of the special jellyfishing mini-game that ended up only making it to the handheld counterpart on your TV. If you had the link cable fully connected, but didn't have a copy of the handheld game inserted in the GBA, then you could have used your Game Boy Advance as a radar for when you went treasure hunting. Unfortunately, though, due to the very rough production cycle that the console version of ROTFD (which was also being developed for the Playstation 2) went through, the link cable feature was scrapped, though voice clips on how the functionality would have worked are still hiding in the GameCube version's disc files.

I think it's also worth noting that the Tingle Tuner is an integral part of Wind Waker speedruns, as it's used for the zombie hover and some other crucial glitches On another note, I never owned a GBA link cable growing up (and neither did any of my friends for some reason), but I did have a GameCube GBA Link Cable, so we would trade pokemon by transferring them through Pokemon Colosseum; I remember that a single trade could take like 20 minutes since there were 3 or so transfers that had to be done lol

Using the link cable with my GameBoy Player is actually how I used the Tingle Tuner in WindWaker while playing it on my Wii. I then connected the GameCube up to a portable DVD Player's video input (which was plugged in) since it was the easiest way I had to get 2 screens so I could actually see the GameCube output. I however do not have friends to play with so I would just use it as a nice mini map and to buy health when I started to get low in some areas.

Legitimately played Crystal Chronicles, 4 swords, Wind Waker Tingle Tuner, and even E-Reader games like this. We played hundreds of hours of Melee on that small fliptop attachable display, always on Hyrule Temple of course.

I freaking loved the GBA Connectivity on the GameCube, my mom got me Sonic Advance because of this, after me playing weeks of the Tiny Chao Garden in SA2B without saving function. Also Wind Waker got even better with that thing connected to it, and not just those games but also Wario Ware Mega Games and The Sims Busting Out! Oh and don't forget the GBA works as complete functional controller for the GameBoy Player as well. Those were the days... yes... truely one of the many aspects that made me enjoy the GC and GBA so much.

I was digging through my pile of old cables and other video game stuff for an eternety, looking for an old GBA-GBA link cable to complete the Pokedex, couldn't find it. What I did find very early in my search was the GBA-GCN cable. Only after giving up on my search did I even think about trying to use that cable, since it has two GBA ports. Of course it works. I spent so much time, was browsing ebay for a cable for an eternety, even bought one from a loval game store, only for that cable to be broken, gave up, and THEN did I realize how amazing the GCN cable is.

I don't think of myself as a great collector or anything, but I've got the gamecube, GBA player, GBA, GCN-GBA cable, PSO2+, pacman vs and a lot of other awesome things for the system and man it is really fun, the only problem is that you need more people to have all the fun and when you are already an adult it gets hard to call friends and get together to play :C

I have very fond memories of manning the Tingle Tuner while my big brother played Wind Waker. Awesome video, I always loved the link cable. I feel like not enough people talked about Four Swords Adventures, and I definitely got my use out of the GBA chao garden. Also I am so fucked up right now. My original GBA SP's screen broke, but you could hear from the sound that the game still ran and all the inputs worked, but since it was "broken" my brother threw it across the street and into a concrete wall, causing it to REALLY break. If I had known I could use the GBA Player I could've still used it!!!!!!

Luigi got a “not Game Boy Color” because that was the latest handheld from Nintendo until right before launch (GameCube, GBA, and Luigi’s Mansion all launched in 2001; earlier in Japan).

For using a GBA as a controller, you could use a Non-SP GBA. Its AC Adapter would not be covered up by the Link Cable and I imagine it might feel better on your hands during long term playing.

I'm not sure exactly what the WarioWare demo download is in its entirety, but the WarioWorld GBA connectivity lets you download a handful of WarioWare minigames at a time. WarioWorld has 8... worlds and if you collect all the otherwise unnecessary 8 treasures in each world you unlock that world's respective minigame bundle. I'm not sure if this was done just to content to an otherwise very short (but very enjoyable nonetheless) title or simply to advertise, but I'm really glad it was since unlocking the content is the more enjoyable and rewarding aspect imo.

The best add-ons for the Nintendo GameCube are the Game Boy Player and screen monitor add-ons. The screen monitor add-on makes your GameCube portable like the PS1 Slim with the PS1 Slim screen monitor add-on. And if you have the Game Boy Player add-on for the GameCube, then you don't need a Super Game Boy or a Super Game Boy 2 add-on for the Super Nintendo. The Game Boy Player is awesome because you can play your Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games on your GameCube's screen monitor add-on or on your TV via the GameCube. And one more thing: with the Game Boy Advance/GameCube link cable, you can use your GBA, GBA SP or GBA Micro as a controller.

Ultimate Four Swords Adventures Setup: Have a Nintendo Wii as the hub system that you insert the game disk. Connect it to a large flat screen TV with component cables. Connect 4 Gamecubes, each with Gameboy Player, to the Wii using GBA to GC Link Cables. Connect each Gamecube to a smaller TV of any kind with any cable, and use any compatible controllers you want. You now have Four Swords Adventures set up so that the main game screen is on the big TV, and whenever a player enters a cave or house, they will show up on one of the smaller TVs. Game on.

Here's another nifty thing: The GBA Player on the GameCube can have the GBA Link Cable connected to it to function as a GBA for all of these games. I once had two TVs with two GameCubes set up and had the Tingle Tuner displaying on one TV with Wind Waker being played on the other

Gamecube is my absolute favorite console. This isn’t nostalgia speaking either i was born a year after its release and had no idea my wii would work with them. I bought a cheap 3rd party game controller and my friend gave me CIB Pokémon colosseum and a gba to GC link cable and Pokémon ruby for my birthday because he never used them. Best birthday ever. I then started making a gamecube collection and recently bought animal crossing, windwaker, a wavebird, and an actual gamecube. Costed me a crazy amount of money and i don't regret it.

You know the Dreamcast was still very popular during the GameCube's lifespan right? The DC had it's own screens on the controllers as well, and they were pack-in. You could download mini games onto the VMUs!

In case anyone is wondering, the reason the Tails Chao is unaffected by the dark fruit is because it is technically a neutral Chao that is already evolved! Also they are immortal, whereas other Chao die or reincarnate after a certain amount of in game time.

So, on the Gameboy Advanced potentially running out of Battery. During a Speedrun, Werster was on a WR pace run, when the GBA he was using for his controller ran out of batteries suddenly. This killed his record because he didn't know where his gamecube controllers were.

Actually, the Knuckles-, Tails- and Amy-Chao can't evolve. BUT, they are already full grown Chao and thus are also part of one of the three main Chao-breeds; Neutral, Hero and Dark. Tails is a Neutral Chao Knuckles is a Hero Chao Amy is a Dark Chao You can't see that somewhere, but in Sonic Adventure 2 only specific Chao breeds can take part of specific races and those three have that trait too.
