Finnegan's Garage

Күн бұрын

On Episode 153 of Finnegan's Garage, Mike Finnegan and David Newbern search for more speed out of their LS-Swapped jet boat. The 1976 Rogers Bonneville TR fiberglass jet boat is powered by an LS6 engine with Mast Motorsports cylinder heads, a Holley Hi-Ram tunnel ram, and dual Holley double pumper carburetors. The quest for more speed came from making adjustments to the jet drive hardware. The guys also repaired the trailer, which needed a dozen holes drilled in it and six u-bolts added to it for strength. Of course they did the work right there at the local launch ramp.

All is fine and good until one of those aluminum shavings gets into your eye from not wearing eye protection. You'll never get it out of your eye without complex surgery. Steel shavings are much simpler since you can use a magnet but on not aluminum. Sorry to be such a Safety Sam but I had a buddy who lost his right eye due to aluminum shavings from refusing to wear eye protection.

A friend of mine had an old Glasstron-Carlson CVX 20 jet boat with a big block Ford 460 in it. It wasn't the beast this thing is, but man, that thing could move! Interesting story, he traded it for a early 90s Toyota mini truck on bags with custom 4 link rear and modified frame. The suspension could be run on air or compressed nitrogen. It was supposedly built by Finnegan himself.

I like the use of the scientific method. Makes observation, asks a what if we do this question, forms hypothesis about potential adjustments, make prediction about outcome based on hypothesis, test prediction under real world conditions, use final results to increase knowledge and understanding of original problem and finally, make new predictions if possible using increased understanding. Also note the use of measured data in observations and information collection. Guy's a scientist. Excellent work.

Can't believe my 462 Olds with 9.9:1 comp and a single carb went 80.5 (gps) with an AA impeller in a Berkeley jet. The hull was a 1973 wrighdt stinger 17.5ft. Sold it to a friend who took 5 years to restore it, drove it twice then lost it in a huge garage fire. RIP old jet boat. Also sold my polished tunnel ram for Olds 455 to same friend who installed it...and poor intake even melted in the fire

Sometimes I just can't wonder how ... well simple KZfaqrs are. Why would one start to drill stuff at the boat ramp? Why them do not turn the trailer upside down? Why them do not drill the holes in concrete or asphalt or anywhere else than a sandy boat ramp where ppls are guaranteed to go bare foot. I really do hope that they cleaned those metal shavings, but I really doubt as there's dozens of them little shavings. Really not one of the Finnegans brightest moment out there, especially as hes somewhat experienced boat guy - not some YT fame kiddo in their early 20s.

@MesaB Australia mainly uses meth for burnout cars because of the cooling. They still drop the compression ratio when installing a power adder in order to have a larger combustion chamber after the compression stroke because it allows you to force more air and fuel in and make more power without detonating.

Thats why your drag boat is proposing and that's why it's pulling air and that's why it's caveating..... The nozzle, you need to get her bow down a little, either pull it out of the water an inch or point it down a micron once she hits 40 or 50, may be able to get away with shifting some weight forward, either way, with those speeds, the adjustments to get her bow down are minutia
