I have a folding dish drying rack that is a nuisance. I realized I had thirsty bathroom sets in colors I didn't want in the bathroom but the yellow, brown, russet colors are perfect in my brown rich cabinets and deep brown mustard speckled counter tops. I use the big wash clothes hung on oven door for cleaning and folded for hot pot handles. The hand towels are perfect size for my drying side of the sink. the bath towels cut in thirds and hemmed are perfect for hand drying, dish drying side of sink or hung over oven door for whatever. No money spent, no hard feelings and now when no one knows what to give me they buy sets or singles that match my kitchen on sale. Everyone is happy. thanks for your videos. I have a few other hints to drop as gifts, buy on sale give on holidays yessssss

I lived in a 27 square meter (around 290 square feet) apartment with my best friend for 5 months when life was "a bit" rough on me (without her I would have been either homeless or I would have had to live 70km (43.5 miles) away from my school with my parents)... Now my apartment is 40 square meters (430.6 square feet), I live alone. All rooms are a pretty good size, I really like the layout in this apartment. I am moving to another town in a few weeks for school and my future apartment is 39 square meters (419.8 square feet), so pretty much the same size as my current one, but the bathroom there has like 0% storage and there's this teeny tiny kitchen (around the same size as your old one), so I think I'll have to keep some of the kitchen stuff in the room leading to it, which is the entryway (here in Finland we have real entryways, usually separate rooms for them or at least an open concept space leading to other rooms, not just an outside door leading to a living room or a kitchen, because we have four distinct seasons here and we need a place for all the outdoor clothes, plus in Finland no one wears shoes indoors in someone's house, not even their own, unless it's a fancy party where everyone wears high heels and such, so we need a place to leave the shoes at)... And I also need to find some storage solutions for the bathroom. Hopefully I'll find some ideas online... It's tough, though, because appliances and layouts and everything are so different here than in USA and no one in Finland seem to be doing organizing videos... I am probably going to do some sort of a diy lazy susan in the corner cabinet, possibly more. And I want a shelf that goes behind the sink, against the wall, but idk if they sell those in Finland and if those will work over the faucets we have here. Many Americans seem to have a window above the sink in the kitchen and then they advice you to make a window sill there and utilize the sides of the top cabinets. Well, here we never have windows above sinks, because we have drying cabinets there. A Finnish housewife invented it back in, like, the 50s and now all Finnish homes have one. It's considered very odd if your house does not have one. It's like a cabinet over the sink, but the shelves are wire shelves instead of solid ones. You do the dishes, then you place the wet dishes there and the water drips down to your sink. Genius. Some people with smaller kitchens / who have a dishwasher and therefore don't do dishes as much, use them as regular cabinet space, others with bigger kitchens (like I have now) use them to dry dishes. Our sinks are pretty much always stainless steel, with a stainless steel countertop area next to them. Also, we never have walk-in pantries. Never ever ever have I seen a Finnish home with a walk-in pantry. The button/handle thing to flush the toilet with is on the top of the toilet, not the side, so we cannot hang stuff over the toilet like you can. We have small hand-held bidet showers attached to our bathroom sinks, which sometimes makes it hard to place a storage unit under the sink. My future apartment has that exact problem. I'm thinking of placing a rolling cart there, but I'm afraid it'll create visual clutter and collect a lot of dust... Your closets are like tiny rooms with shelves, ours are more like built-in cabinets (the bottom of the closet is not the floor). I could go on and on about the differences...

Zinetha Wow, very interesting. I was in Finland briefly in 2016, loved the country. I had been visiting cousins in Norway. I am always running out of storage space in my home. We collect too much “stuff” here in the USA.

These are some great tips and ideas. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said, "don't hoard things you don't need." I think we spend so much time for the "what if" moments instead of just living in the moment. I also loved the idea of "downsizing" the appliances to smaller ones. Especially for someone who is single, like myself. I dont need the LARGE kitchenade mixer, I can just use a hand mixer in it's place and save TONS of space while doing it! Great tips! about to binge all your videos! *you've been warned* LMAO

New sub and thought you may like this recipe. I saw you had the key ingredients in your panty. Jamaican Chili YIELD: 4 servings SERVING SIZE: about 1¼ cup 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil 1 cup chopped onion 1¼ cups chopped yellow bell pepper, seeded 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 cup water or Vegetable Broth 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained 1 (15-ounce) can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon paprika ½ teaspoon salt ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley Heat olive oil in large saucepan over medium heat, and cook onions until soft and translucent. Add yellow pepper and garlic. Cook until pepper is tender, stirring frequently. Add water or broth, beans, tomatoes, cumin, paprika, and salt. Bring to a boil. Cover, and simmer 30 minutes. Stir in parsley just before serving. Recipe Notes For a spicier chili, add a diced jalapeno pepper or hot chili powder. Serve with Broiled Polenta Squares or Corn Muffins. Use chickpeas instead of cannellini beans. Add more vegetables, such as carrots, celery, or zucchini.” We use this year round but started using for The Daniel Fast.

Only if the mugs don't make you exceedingly happy LOL. I ACTUALLY used to have a SERIOUS mug issue and I only just recently (like in the past year) really pared down and it feels so good. I just took a snapshot of the old ones that I had some sentimental attachment to and sent them on their merry way. So, I'm THERE with you about a mug obsession. 😂

You can also make a dedicated shelves for them (as display on a blank wall if you have one) to double as a decoration if you can't really get rid of them. :)

I am so interested in the way you labeled your cereal and paper bag containers. I think you used a chalk board marker to write on the container, right? I want to try this but I want to make sure I can remove it before I try it. Is that what you did? Thanks.
@TheOrganizedSoprano
@TheOrganizedSoprano 6 жыл бұрын
It's a chalk marker, but it rubs off, so I recently switched over to using the Sharpie Water-Based Paint Pens and they are much better. It will stay on unless you rub it off with a damp cloth! If you check them out (they sell them at Michael's!) get the Water-based, NOT the oil based.
