Hello Beautiful people 😊 ,
It has been forever since I posted a video but I promise it will make sense over time.
This video is about the five and a half years I have spent in South Korea. In it, I break down my reasons for staying.
// ABOUT //
I am Nolusindiso Hleko, a South African based in South Korea for the past five years.
I like post videos about topics that inspire me.

I am glad you are happier with your life. :) It's okay not to have plans, just enjoy your time and whenever (if ever) you feel ready, then you go with an easy heart.

I'm glad you stayed. I've been in Korea for 4 years and I planned to only stay 3 😂 but I'm addicted to kpop concerts and traveling here. I don't think I'll stay forever, but I'll be here a while. Glad I found your channel 😊

I'm really glad I found your account. I have been watching videos of people teaching in Korea for a couple of weeks, but I think you're the first person who is so similar to me - down to going back to school as a means to figure things out and not settle for just anything in life. I'm so happy to subscribe, thank you for making videos 🙏🏾

It would be very cool to hear more from you, about living in Korea! It's one thing to read about the country, and totally other to actually hear personal experience and how it "feels" to live in a country from another person. Really interesting stuff, thanks!

Hahahahahha stay another 2/3 years- once I arrive I just found your channel and I love everything about your aura/energy and you're already my friend in my head. I did the same thing, saved up and went back to Uni to do another degree and by God's grace I am managing- It wasn't an easy decision because I felt the same way but we keep moving, sometimes we act like we're supposed to know it all or have it all figured out when we are all experiencing this life thing for the first time and we might not always get it right but its meant for living and learning from our mistakes

I see a lot of expats falling into this trap where they get too comfy teaching English then suddenly realize it's been half a decade and they're basically directionless. They can't change careers in East Asia but going back home means starting from zero, far behind their peers. It's fascinating to see the same situation replicated over and over again.

Hi Nolu, I just stumbled upon your video while trying to drown my sorrows with KZfaq. I'm 27 and doing my final year of Diploma in Electrical Engineering, I feel down and I feel like I'm way too old to only be finishing my first qualification which is a Diploma. I think after coming across your channel I'll look into teaching English in Korea next year. Unless maybe you think I should get NQF level 7 first? (Advanced Diploma which is BTech equivalent) before going?

I have a weird question. I've read articles of young asians form Canada and the US that want to teach English in Asia, but they have a tough time being hired because in China for example, they feel it's better for "white people" to teach it even though these young adults were born and raised in North America. . Did you experience something similar as someone who's not white? On another note, I'm also a digital nomad for the past 20 years and have lived in 3 countries. You learn a lot and it's a wonderful experience, but it's also not for everyone. The only paid in the butt really is having to renew my visa...so annoying. Other than that, I really need to get out more and learn the local language(s) better. How's your Korean? I'm currently in France for the past 4 years and this might be my last stop...unless I win billions in the lottery or something. 8-).

What you said about Asians is 💯 true! They will sometimes get paid less because they are asians regardless of their nationalities. My Korean is terrible, I am ashamed of it.

I feel like I’m at this point of my life here in Korea. I’ve been here for 4 months. It hasn’t been the greatest few months. But I feel like I have the exact same viewpoint- sort it out. Just do it. 🥹 I have to admit though, I still enjoy my time here. It’s so weird because everyone around me have been saying to either leave SK or leave my job, but I feel otherwise 🥹 also the money is great for a 22 year old graduate who is a breadwinner for their family🥹
