This temple is dated more than 500 years back. There are no proper details of the exact date of this temple's construction. This historical temple, near Avati, is the "Sri Lakshmi Thimmarayaswamy" temple.
The legend regarding this temple is that saint "Sri Gowthama Maharshi" has installed this "Chaturbuja Shanka Chakra Gadadari Sri Lakshmi Thimmarayaswamy". The hill where this temple resides is also known as "Gowthama Giri". Also, there is a cave behind the temple which is believed to be the cave where Saint "Sri Gowthama Maharshi" stayed.
There is also " Sri Chaturbuji Gajalakshmi" who been installed along with Thimarayaswamy.
Another legend states that immigrants from Tamilnadu "Sri Rannabyregowda" along with his brothers and family had stayed on this hill had built this temple to show their gratitude.
The temple has a very good depiction of "SriKrishna's" childhood on the walls.
One can reach this temple via Nandhi hills road or via Avathi road.
