I've started calling the Minelab Equinox 800 with the 6 inch coil the Threepence magnet. Going back metal detecting over old ground with the new coil and my newer settings and the coins are just about jumping out of the ground. Settings and tips to try that are giving me great success.

Great video I have found that trashy sites just keep producing the goods most times you detect it and how you miss stuff is a mystery ., but it gives you somewhere to try again and again.. thanks for sharing regards Sleepy

No wuckers Sleepy. Coming at them from different directions may help at times. Depends on how the target is laying in the ground. Happy swinging 👍

Those 6" coils are worth every single cent. Or thrip, in this case - love the 1910! I found three 1910's once... they're all fused together and shredded on one side (likely a case of thrips vs train). What a great day out. :)

DirtFishMish thanks Mish. I reckon ( the clip is end of April) that since I put the coil on, at least 45% of coins I’ve found are 3 pence. I’d buy a second coil just to wear it as a pendant. Love it. Stay safe. Regards Andrew

Excuse my ignorance, but how far back does Australia's history go concerning coins? What is the oldest coin you could hope to find? Did Australia mint gold and silver coins? Thanks.
@TheCoffeeBushKid
@TheCoffeeBushKid 3 жыл бұрын
Pilgrim777 I would be of the belief that coins came out with the first fleet but definitely with the second fleet. The oldest English coin that most people find are the cart wheel pennies, so named because of their size and the big rim around them. Their date is 1797. The other oldest coins are Chinese coins that were brought out in the gold rush. I have found a few from 1636-1693. Yes Australia minted gold coins late 1800’s and silvers post 1911. Hope this helps :)

I only use my 6 inch . I find much more with it then the stock coil
@TheCoffeeBushKid
@TheCoffeeBushKid 3 жыл бұрын
Ashley f yes I would agree with that. It easier to swing and you put it where the bigger coil won’t fit.

Mr bushy When You discriminate do you use all metal to hunt and dose the horse Shoe mean all metal I’ve got the 800 Knox
@TheCoffeeBushKid
@TheCoffeeBushKid 3 жыл бұрын
G’day Phillip. When I discriminate I use the accept/reject button and notch out everything below 15. I can still use the horse shoe to see if a target is steel or not. Hope this helps. If you haven’t it may make things a bit clearer if you watch tips and tricks for trashy sites. Best of luck and if in doubt, dig it out. Regards Andrew
