Is it just me or this is legitimately a really good song? Like I don't understand why anybody would be embarrassed of being the author of this
@FerretyCoffee2 жыл бұрын
I think it's probably just because Gervais' schtick is being so cynical and pointed. A younger version of himself that sings optimistic new romantic songs just doesn't mesh with the persona he spent the last 20+ years cultivating. Plus he still seems a little hurt by the fact that this never went anywhere. He always refers to this as his "failed pop career"
@ianinkster22612 жыл бұрын
@@FerretyCoffee It's not a failure - it was what it was. I don't think he's deeply embarrassed - he just doesn't put on his CV so to speak - he treats it like a naff college job.
@FEARYOYOYO2 жыл бұрын
It's a solid B-class song. But you know how we're all edgy and dismiss anything thats not top notch and say it's shit immidiately? I think that started in the 80's. Because it's based on the "desire to appear cool" and that culminated in the 80s. /Someone born just after the 80s had ended.

This song became very big abroad especially in asian countries. Ricky also said that he was never embarrassed by this era he is more embarressed by the way society has deemed it.

We used to cry About the day when one of us might fall Weak and blindly into another's arms Demands are gained from jealousies Would flow like water drowning us But leaving us with just another Lover's false alarm And now it's over Both of us free But I feel colder A thousand tortured lives have fallen Wounded dying cut down by the Questions that we've sharpened Just to save our losing days We thought we'd nothing more to lose We'd tear our hearts with jagged truths And everything we'd hung to for so long Just slipped away And now it's over Both of us free And I feel colder I was tired of thinking that Our love can shine your thoughts Of our arrangements Were really not like mine I thought it over And it was plain to see the love you said You once needed Could just not come from me And now it's over Both of us free And I feel colder And now we're moving to new beginnings But as we move we looked once behind To see what we might find out Lost loves and old thoughts of our nights of winnings That lunge, tear and grasp At lost wanting minds

That is the best thing he has ever done in his life, Its a masterpiece of poetic and musical brilliance. How could he be so insecure with this? I would be so proud to create something so beautiful. Such an underrated song. The lyrics are so amazing. The music is so foreboding and spiritual for such a cold hurt guy. That's why he does all those roasts on people. Because he thought he "failed". But he made a masterpiece. He should look back at this and say what a masterpiece. Every time I listen to this modern depressing music I have to go back and listen to 80s music to cleanse my soul;)) what a time the 80s.
