Sonny, I just returned a couple days ago from a 5 month staycation in Bali/Nusa Penida/Lombok. I went the cheap route. $10-15 a night hotel. All were very nice and definitely worth the price. Can't imagine staying in a $100-$1,000 hotel. You can live like a king in Indonesia with a high budget. I lived off $2-3 meals, which was more than enough. Most of the local restaurants were cheap and delicious. Budget friendly. Fell in love with the country. Beautiful place with such sweet nice people. Can't wait to return:)

Hey Sonny. Have you thought about top and tailing a place? You go somewhere, stay in a luxury hotel and then stay in a decent but cheap place and contrast and compare not only the hotels but the experience of the countries/cities that each provides.

Such a great place to stay at. Glad Sonny could experience it. All I remember from my time there is the massive koi pond just beyond the entrance and the steps down to the private beach not far from it. Absolutely lovely.

I freaking love Bali. My brother got married there. Spent a week enjoying a couple different villas. If I had the money, I'd buy a villa. They're surprisingly not that expensive. Though Bali is pretty cheap as well in general so it makes sense.

We definitely do have Egg Dosa, the thing is you should do a tour of just Tamil Nadu, there are a lot of unique food that you wouldn’t have seen before (as a long time subscriber, almost 6+ years) I know you can have at least 2 to 3 episodes of just Tamil Nadu, maybe hit Kerala, Andhra Pradesh/ Telangana, you know a South Indian tour

Having been to Bali a couple of times in the last 6 months, I've witnessed its move from backpacker to luxury holiday model. All inclusive and luxury resorts are popping up, especially in the south of the island. Prices have increased alot. This model has a number of local restaurants worried longer term, if people stay within their resorts, who will visit their food outlets?

Nice to see luxury resort but I’m sure the food will never be as good as traditional Balinese food that you can find all around the island. After 6 years in Bali I’m still finding out about AMAZING dishes that are just standard and well known by people here.

My wife and I lived in Surabaya in the early 2000's and she "had to" travel to Bali once a month for work. As her employer paid for room and board, we didn't stay at the Four Seasons but I really hope you had a chance to get some Babi Guling while there. The best suckling pig I have ever had. The pigs are (were) basically free range and some of them feed on Avocados which adds a new dimension of flavor.
