The death of composer Krzysztof Penderecki in 2020 was defined as the loss of the "last great Polish composer". In writing his Sonata for violin and piano No. 2 he claimed a "return to the sentimental", in defense of the "beauty of music". A new dialogue with the past is also reflected in his famous Polish Requiem, of which two movements in arrangement for trio with piano are heard here.
