I share in this video what I did to get rid of the "play" or "wobble" when using my normal bits in my Vessel Electric Screwdriver. Maybe you have wanted to fix the issue yourself, if so I hope it helps.
Hope it's useful & THANKS FOR WATCHING!

The Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) for their bit fitment into their collars are 13mm from the bottom to the center of the indent. We and most of Europe use the E6 style bits (about 9mm) and corresponding collars. Amazon Japan sells a Makita adapter (Makita A-44672 Bit Piece) similar to your slug specifically for this situation. I have one being delivered from Japan. Also, online I saw one person 3D print a 5mm slug with provision for a small magnet that would stick to the end of the bit as you inserted and removed from collar. More than one way to skin a cat.

Someone had mentioned that Makita one to me. So far this has been working pretty good for me. I leave a locking bit holder in mine 95% of the time, so it’s pretty rare I even remove it.

Thanks for the great video. Ended up buying a japan market vessel 220USB-P1BL and made my own adapters/spacers from worn out old bits. Read the comments and seen the othwr options which is nice to have. Now i can swap to either 13mm or 9mm length bits. I cut mine and finished them off around .220-.222 range for anyone it might help if making their own spacers.

I found the TONE 2BHA-065 Bit Holder on Amazon Japan. It has the 13mm detente on the back to fit the screwdriver chuck (albeit with the same play as show on the original blade supplied with the screwdriver) and a western standard C6.3/E6.3 chuck on the other end. I can now use any of my existing bits on my Vessel screwdriver.

I don’t understand why people are bothered by this. It makes zero difference. It only matters if you use a Japanese bit in a standard collet, then it won’t lock.

I have a bunch of those dewalt bit holders. I love them because they're one of the few that work decent with double sided wiha bits and probably leatherman bits as well. I wish more bit holders were that versatile. The only issue is the double sided bits don't lock in there securely and there is some play, but it works fine. There is another bit holder from P.I.T. that I found on amazon as part of a socket adapter set and it actually works a little better. The holder is a little more slim and there's a little less play. I've been looking around for similar bit holders. I don't understand why wiha doesn't make them. They already make the 26 in 1 ultra screwdriver.

Great idea. I'd take a piece plywood big enough to use it as a sled in Evolution table saw, route a channel 1/4" wide and long enough to take that disposable/donor shaft. Then I'd secure that shaft and cut if off on that saw. Just to make it nice, square and repeatable. This way you can measure it very accurately. It's an overkill, but what a joy :) The sled/jig stays, so you can use it whenever you lost that piece. And you can just cut it from any 1/4" shaft. Or you can make a couple (hundreds) of those and sell them?

I use a Wera Bit-check 7 with 6 most used 1" bits with a Wiha locking bit holder. What is your way of running it as multi? Would be nice to run a couple 3-speeds. I dropped mine from ladder height the red near the collet popped out clam-shell ball end seperated a bit and the lid popped out. Pushed everything back together. Seems to work fine. Sometimes I notice a slight wobble now but I'm assuming its the play or bit-holder. Gonna have do the E6 mod now. I think you mentioned mech pencil eraser cut to size?

Annoyingly Vessel do make an adaptor to do the opposite of what you need, the DBH-02 has a 9.5mm anvil (measured from the butt to the centre of the detente) to fit in western bit holders and takes single or double.ended Japanese bits. I couldn't find anything the reverse of that though. There are also western bit adaptors out there with a double ball bearing to retain the bits which work great at holding C6, E6 and Japanese bits, the Wiha CentroFix being the best IMO.

Yes, the Wiha Centrofix bit holder is the best. I did the same 'spacer' concept with a Centrofix in my Anex ratcheting handle. Debating whether to superglue it to make it permanent.

Has anyone tried this using the Makita bit piece? It's essentially the same thing made by Makita, it drops into Japanese sockets so the shorter US anvils fit correctly. This is meant for Makita driver TD173. It also fills the part that makes the sockets compatible with reversible Japanese bits and I'm not sure if the Vessel has that or not, if not the bit piece might not fit

About VESSEL and this problem: In VESSEL documentation they call VESSEL bits as "Type A" and others as "Type B" (international). Main diffirence: Type A - 13 mm chunk Type B - 9,5 mm chunk So, to cover diffirence need 3,5 mm chunk. It may depend of adapters\tool used, but you got the math. So, maybe start from 4,5mm and slowly sand it down.
