The thing about her speaking voice though is that she's usually bubbly so she talks like that. It's based on her personality and doesn't mean it's unnatural when she strays from it when singing. To inform you further, Morissette is a genre killer, in several languages. She's like a chameleon that can change her voice depending on the genre and language. Many vocal coaches/reactors, after many reactions, concluded that she's like many divas packed in one small body.

Morissette is one of the best Asian singer and even one of the best vocalist in today's generation pls 😭 Her original songs are all difficult. In fact one of her original song is the most difficult filipino song to sing because of her techniques. She is known for her bubbly personality. All of us have our own vocal habits anyways and use our instruments differently. I do not find hers super unhealthy, she is even known for her resonant voice. There are even people who talks and sings the same but very strainy. Her style is just really different. This is much like how classical singers prefer that distinct dark-sounding placement but when they talk, they sound different. But I love how you easily noticed that she sounds so bright, yes, she is actually a light-lyric soprano like Ariana and Mariah.

I liked you using your voice to mimic her techniques to get a better understanding of the performance. I do understand that this was a karaoke performance, but I can see why she is so popular regardless. I wake up every morning hoping that Mori will growl at me. I've always thought her cover of "Fly LIke a Bird" was her best Mariah song. To get a real taste of her talent, may I suggest "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw", obviously sung in Tagalog, one of her native tongues. It's her latest, and sung in front of a band.

Stumbled upon Mori's Wish Bus videos back in 2018, it was her original Akin Ka Na Lang and cover of Rise Up by Andra Day. It was sooooooo amazing I really felt the song that it got me hooked, up until today it's become a daily endeavor to watch and rewatch her performances.
