FYI, MORISSETTE and DARREN from the PHILIPPINES chosen by Disney's to be the new voice on their up-coming films and the original version of ALADDIN and MULAN was also sung by another FILIPINA Broadway Singer/Actress LEA SALONGA of Miss Saigon and Les Miserables !!!

I already knew Lea Salonga sang in the original Aladdin and Mulan. Lea is actually touring across the UK in July which I have tickets for. Can't wait!

at first, i was also confused and became so excited that i thought, morissette and Darren's version of "a whole new world" will be used as singing voice of jasmine and aladdin in the movie.. but i read in a comment here in youtube that their version was just a promotion of the movie here in the Philippines.. 😍😍😍

Yeah that's Disney's promotion strategy now, they'd get local singers with a big fan base to penetrate more in to the market. At the end of the day it's still business.

It's quite possible that Mori and Darren wanted to sing the Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle version which suits their voices better, but Disney was the one pulling the strings here, it's probably because the Lea Salonga-Brad Kane version was extremely popular in the Philippines in 1992 that they decided to stay faithful to that original version. So that's that a pop version and a theatrical version, the one Mori-Darren sing was the theatrical version.

Looks like most explained where the versions fit, but just to summarize. The Live Action film has two versions. The classic version used during the magic carpet scene sung by the title characters Naomi Scott and Mena Massound. The Pop version plays during the credits thats the single by Zayn and Zhavia. Disney always has a classic and pop version. Since Disney is an International company often times they will tap international artists around the world to render versions of the title songs to be distributed in their home countries under the Disney brand. In this case Disney Chose Darren and Morissette to revive this song for the Philippines. It can be stream on Spotify and itunes (only in the Philippines) and the official music video plays in theaters in the Philippines prior to the Live action film. I was under the impression the music video would be released on KZfaq by Disney Philippines, but so far I haven't seen it. Disney also sponsored the Wish Bus event that has gone viral. If you look around youtube you can see other countries versions. Ive seen France, Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia so far. Hope this helps!

Alladin, the movie since it is being promoted in the Philippines, Disney opted to use the original version for Morissette and Darren to sing for 2 reasons: 1. Filipinos love that version for sentimental reason 2. Lea Salonga, a compatriot was part of that original iconic song - a breakthrough of sort for Filipino singers {Lea and then Rachelle Ann Go} to be hired by Disney.

Hi! Zayn and Zhavia's version is the POP version and Darren & Mori's is the classical one. They were handpicked by Walt Disney to sing the song for the movie's promotion. #AladdinPH #AWholeNewWorld #waltdisneyPH

@@EAPFilmsOfficial ithink its the latter. Darren & Mori's version was used for the movie launching and promo as well, here in the Philippines. Not sure if it would also be used on other Asisn countries.

Hi Dan, I thought you already know that Disney has handpicked these two amazing Pinoys to do the Asian Sound Track version, and they already have the Music Video on YT. They also sang it on the WishBus and the audio is better. I already watched the US version but I guess Darrel and Mori's version is better. Hahahah somewhat biased tho LOL.

I knew they were handpicked but I didn't know where the song would be used. The actors sang it during the film itself. Not sure where Zayns version was used or Mori/Darren's version. So if you went to the cinema in the Philippines, where would you hear their song?

@@EAPFilmsOfficial All cinemas in the Philippines (May 22) ran that song during their Ride on the Flying Carpet 'coz it was recorded for that purpose especially for the Philippines, and I heard it was also all of Asia (not very sure).
