I’m not even a Christian but when I first heard this I was sobbing by the end. I sent it to the music director of the church whose pastor did my mothers funeral and he was blown away. He played it for his choir and wrote me back saying there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Mori brings this level of emotion to every song she sings. Props to Gary for this arrangement it really showcased her phenomenal gift !!!

This song was composed by Gary Valenciano for the Filipino Christian Musical by Freddie Santos "First Name" in 1988 but Gary decided to rearrange this song specifically for Morissette.

With this song Morissette delivers the important message and reminds us what Jesus can be and what he definately is for us. I love this song and I love this lady. Some people are blessed with beautiful amazing voices But they struggle to convey the message T and meaning found in the words. Other people are good singers but not great, yet when they open their mouth, you’re tearing up within the first few words. Morissette has somehow found the secret to both. A special unique ability. All you have to do is listen to her singing Akin Ka Na Lang. You don’t understand a word she is saying but you feel all of them. You have tears running down your face but you don’.t know why. What a gift. What’s this song represents to me is, all of us, even those of us Who have excepted Christ, have times in life, when life has just become too much. We find ourselves before him, confused, tired needing answers. Years ago, I was in such a place. Everything in my life was spinning out of control. There wasn’t anything I could do to fix any of it. I drove up to church to meet with our Pastor. I was on the board, had served as a part-time youth pastor, and was involved in just about every area of the church over the years. He wasn’t just my pastor. he was my friend. I knew he would have some understanding and knowledge for me. I told him what all that was going on. He got up from his desk, walked over to me and told me to stand up. He placed his hands on my shoulders, looked me in the eyes and said, Steve. You got trouble. let me pray for you. When he finished, he walked me over to the door and told me to come back anytime I needed help. I walked out to my car, talking to myself, uttering “you got trouble” you got to be kidding me. I knew that when I Walked in the door. Dumbest guy I know could’ve told me that. I got in the car and drove off repeating it. “you got trouble”. How much are we paying you? and that’s all you got for me. I was dumbfounded. What just happened? Three words and a prayer. Tears of frustration were running down my face. I pulled over to the side of the road, put the car in park. looked up and said it one more time. You got trouble. It was then that Lord finished the sentence… and it’s not going away for a while. In the spirit, I saw myself at the foot of a big mountain. There was no clear way to the top. It felt like he was standing next to me. Steve, this is going to be hard. You cannot waste your time and energy heading up the mountain, only to find out it was a dead end and have to backtrack and Traverse your way over for a better path. Keep me close, for this is not a battle against flesh and blood. It must be fought in the spirit, against the powers and principalities of this dark world. Pray in the spirit and keep your mind in and on the things of the spirit. Trust me with all of your earthly worries for I’m not just your savior, to be found on the day of judgment. You know me as Jesus. Now you must know me as your Messiah. I love this song because it reminds me of that day. Morissette is asking him Will you be all that I need in the here and now. This happened to me when I was 35. I will be 73 in July and I can tell you the answer is yes. He’s waiting to meet you all you have to do is ask him in. You don’t have to clean out your closet. Get rid of your baggage, Bandage up all those scars and bruises. He takes you as you are.

Dave Lamar, the Director, and the front cameraman , as well as her husband, is a devote Christian and in the last 4 years of th courtship, engagement and marriage he has helped Mori , embrace her faith more. I left Manila when I was a teenager during the height of Gary's popularity . I wasn't a Christian back then but I brought this song with me in all the countries I lived in. Then at 23yo I became a Christian and this song guided my journey and struggles with my faith thru the years. I'm now a grandma and living by myself here in california and this song is still guiding me when life gets to me sometimes. There's no one more amazing than the Lord my God and this song keeps reminding me about that.
