Have you listened to the original yet by Andra Day? I first heard Mori's cover before I watched AD's video. Her voice is very distinctive and emotional. I do prefer Mori's cover though. One of the reasons why this was taken down from the WishBus was because of copyright. Methinks it's because her rendition was gaining more views than the original.

Morissette outdid other originals too by the millions but the original never had Mori's cover deleted. Its only Andra Day who complains and didnt like other singers to beat her in number of views.

She was sick during this performance and still killed it! You should definitely check out her 2017 asia song festival performance where she did a mash up a Mariah Carey song (Best of my love and Emotions). After that stellar performance is when Mori was given the name Asias Phoenix.

Believe it or not , the songs you have covered so far, are not techniquely difficult for her. For more challenging renditions of iconic songs, check out her cover of Mariah's "Fly Like A Bird" or Idena Menzel's broadway hit "Defying Gravity". Both of these upgades have stunned vocal experts and legends in their fields.

Morissette and Sohyang are my favourite female singers at the moment. Both are world class..... This is a brilliant cover. Andra Day's original is also beautiful. Andra and Morissette are very different singers so I would never compare them... just admire each for their fantastic interpretations of this beautiful song.

Guys Morissette Amon a.k.a. Asia's Phoenix is really one of the best female vocalist in this generation. By the way I've just subscribed to your channel. Here are some of her amazing performances that you might want to react too. Her covers of Stone Cold and I Want To Know What Love Is on MYX live. Her cover of When We Were Young by Adele on her Stages Sessions. Her rendition of Chandelier on her Platinum concert. The 3 you have now done and Secret Love Song (which is the most viewed song ever on Wish 107.5) are probably the 4 that helped put Mori on the map to start being noticed worldwide. You cannot go wrong with any of the many fantastic covers Mori has done, but you should also start checking out originals she has co-written and co-produced with her husband Dave Lamar on her EP's Signature and From the Sea, such as Love You Still, Will You Stay, Phoenix, Trophy, Mirror, Up And Away, and Luna. I love her latest Undangon Ta Ni. If you want to learn more about Mori's background (which I think will make you admire her even more), watch her version of Listen at Theatre Solaire and her/Dave's heartwarming wedding video by Treehouse Story.

I have 2 singers/bands I like to listen to when I need cheering up. Morissette is one, but the other is Babymetal. I'd also recommend watching them as well at some point. I'd start with the song Headbanger, or Catch me if you can. These girls make me smile every time, except when the singer doesn't want to make you smile. Like Morissette, the main singer for Babymetal is very good at conveying emotion. Anyhow, nice reaction, I enjoyed that. Jess, you always look like you're on the verge of tears when you react to Mori, and you're always so entranced too. I love it.

If you want to see her in action...on stage ..pls. watch the 2017 Asia Song Festival held in South Korea! Her performance at said Festival showcases her command of the stage sans all those back up singers and dancers. The stage was all hers and it was amazing!!! Pleaseeeee!!!

Aside from her beautiful voice, she conveys a lot of emotions through her way of delivery. I actually prefer listening to this than the original singer or any other cover. Mike, have you already listened to the original? Then, you will understand what I exactly mean. As I did in my previous comment, please check her 2017 and 2018 Asia Song Festivals performances. Long videos because she sang two songs in each, but it will be worth our time. Mike and Jess thank you so much for your honest reactions on Morissette's cover of RISE UP. Yes, the original cover of this song was done by ANDRA DAY. But we found out that the manager of ANDRA DAY asked U-TUBE to remove Morissette's version of RISE UP because it rack-up multi-million views while ANDRA DAY had only some Thousands views. So u-tube removed it but Morissette's fans put it back then it got removed again and again and again, until the manager of ANDRA DAY got tired and let it go. Watching from Illinois USA: 09-12-2022.
