My late husband showed me this tree 30+ years ago. Im hoping it still stands. Love Guy Nixons history lessons!

It's so sad that many people have no respect for history. Thanks for being such a wonderful resource.

According to F.W. Cragin, my supposed great great great grandfather was on the latter portion of Freemont's Fourth Expedition, from California to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Old Bill Williams worked with George C. Sibley, who was a cousin to George Simpson; both Sibley and Simpson are my ancestors.

Please post update here whether the tree is standing after Caldor fire. Thank you.

So much lost in the Caldor fire. I'm happy that this gem was not one of them. A well preserved blaze with legible writing is preserved in the museum at Coloma State Park, if you want to see one up close.

If you want something preserved, don't let the public know about it.

Pretty much it sucks.... Jackoffs go into the woods with no respect and even less brain cells. Spent my life between El dorado , Tahoe , Sierra, and Plumas National Forest. I always haul extra garbage and crap out.
