So Jesus was praying to himself when he taught his disciples how to pray? At the tomb of Lazarus? In the Garden of Gethsemane? Upon the cross?

@@butchshepard9112; Well, one "Person of", or who "fully shares in" God (Jesus) is supposedly praying and speaking to a another Person of, or who fully shares in the same one God (the Father). Along with the "Person of" the Holy Spirit as well. If any of that makes any sense to you ... Which I certainly don't blame you if it doesn't. Since it's really just unscriptural philosophy and a lot of nonsense to be honest. But that's Trinitaianism....

@Jeremy-rx2mb ; Among the many other absurdities of Trinitarian theology, it actually would lead to schizophrenia. Which is why Trinitarians have to actually try and argue for two levels of philosophical craziness. 1) To separate a "person" from their "being." So God can supposedly be multiple Persons in the same one Being. 2) Then to separate a "person" from having a distinct "personality." So God can be multiple Persons, yet have only one personality to avoid God having multiple personalities or schizophrenia. Once again, yes I know ... Total unscriptural and philosophical nonsense. And is really just blaspheming God even more as some kind of freak .... But that's Trinitaianism....

I, as a Christian, put all other beliefs under Paul's words in Galatians chapter 1. If someone is preaching a gospel other than the one he, and the other apostles gave. Let them be under God's curse. Sorry Mormons, you need to repent, turn to the true gospel, and trust in the Lord Christ Jesus for your salvation.

How do we know what god's thought is? From His words. Is the bible the words of god? Does the bible say that it is the verbatim words of god or it is authored by god? If it doesn't, then we have to look for a scripture which, at least claim it is the verbatim words of god or it is from god. After finding one, we should assess and test it if it is really from god. If it is, we have no choice but to sincerely accept god's decree mentioned in such scripture.

The first issue with mormonism (as an ex mormon) is they don't believe the Bible to be fully true, so when you give them biblical scriptures that don't line up with the Book of Mormon, they will dismiss those biblical scriptures. They just don't even look at them at all as truth. So, helping them understand the correctness of the Bible is the beginning to help them see how faulty the Book of Mormon is which leads into their false prophets. Give them facts on the correctness of the Bible, because it's a slippery slope further away from the Bible if they realize the church isn't true without knowing the Bible is true. make sense?

The Bible has been changed, or translated and retranslated several times. Many languages do not fully translate back and forth. The Joseph Smith translation of the Bible is no more a “mess” than any other translation. All are subject to the interpretation of the translator. Unless you are able to read and interpret the original text yourself, you are always at the mercy of the person or persons who translated what you are reading.

Amen brother! One technique that I would highly recommend is on youtube “ the impossible gospel of Mormonism “ excellent videos that uses only LDS published documents to get them lost and leave them in that state until they have really had enough time to wrap their minds around it. If they ask you what you believe. If you give them the normal regular testimony of how you came to Christ, they look for a toehold to say “that’s what I believe ”. Once they get there they revert back to their original position. There was no dent in their shields and at the end they looked for comfort in agreements. If any man lacks wisdom reference he made. So when they ask what you believe leave them in hell, give them no comfort verses IE the soul that sins shall die, hell (outer darkness ) has enlarged itself, the rich man lifted up his eyes in hell being in torments and finally revelations 20:12-15. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Good job! One question I ask these guys is this...."In the mid 1800's there were three new belief systems born (SDA, Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses). All of them contradict scripture. All of them rely on writings outside the bible. All of the have a new prophet (with false prophecies). All of them claim to be the only true church with exclusive rights to heaven. So how do you know that you are the TRUE believers?" I can tell you for free they will say its because of something they experienced in their hearts when they read their book. Jesus says that truth is known when you abide in his word John 8:31,32. You are on to something when you told them to text their belief against the scriptures. I really hope they heard you! God bless!

What you’ve said here including SDA’s isn’t true. We do not claim exclusive rights to heaven. We believe that most of God’s people are in the other churches. God’s Word (Joel 2, Acts 2) says that He will give visions to His people in the last days, and they will prophesy. So according to the Bible that is a characteristic among God’s people in the last days. Revelation 12:17, when explained by Revelation 19:10 and 22:9 confirms that prophecy will be among a commandment keeping people. This is purely Bible. And I have absolutely no problem sticking with the Bible and the Bible alone. God bless

There are not 3 Persons in the Godhead because Jhn 1:1 only mentions 2 God Beings that have existed forever: the Word and the Most High God. The Holy Spirit is never mentioned as being a God Being in that passage, but it is mentioned in Luk. 1:35 as being the active _power_ that is used by God.

John 17:20-23 in the King James Version: “I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” God is one? I hope he doesn’t take this scripture literally as well.

I know that combating spiritual blindness is like fighting a hydra. There are multiple problems, when it comes to speaking to Mormons in particular. 1) They frequently swallow things they know aren't right, and thereby develop a sort of reflex. It's sort of like playing a bad poker hand, when you know you should fold. You get so far in (maybe all-in) and you just can't fold because you're too invested--even though you know you can't win with your unsuited 2-7. (See Romans 1:18-25) 2) They are trained to believe the Bible is unreliable, and evangelical Christians are well-meaning, misled, and eventually will come over to their side...or be baptized by proxy, after their deaths. They just look at you with that patient smile & nod. They don't revere the Bible, so why would they allow themselves to be contradicted by it? They are praying for YOU, because you only have a fragment of the truth (but technically so do they, because revelation is an ongoing thing for them, but you can't use logic, so...) 3) They don't really know what the Bible teaches. They are also completely ignorant of Church History (ours as well as their own). 4) Words like: salvation, gospel, prophet, testimony, baptism, apostles, priesthood, scripture, Jesus Christ, heaven, hell, church--you think you are speaking the same language as them, when you try to talk to them, but the meanings of ALL these words have been twisted by the LDS church. As a result, the point you are making...well, you are NOT actually making it at all. The shared beliefs you think you have with them (that act as a door of utterance)? You actually DON'T share beliefs with them. So it's not a real conversation you're having. To compound this problem: Mormons are taught that they DO have the same Jesus, the same gospel, the same Bible as you! So half the time, they think you are on the same wavelength too! 5) There's some huge mental block regarding Joseph Smith. Because the LDS church is so hard on its members regarding the need for repentance (which isn't the repentance taught in the Bible*), it seems unfathomable to them that Joseph Smith, whom they worship, could actually be capable of the "smear campaign" we try to make them aware of. Whatever he did, surely he MUST have repented of it, right? He had at least 34 wives (confirmed--others unconfirmed). At least 12 of them were teenagers--some of which were groomed as young as 12 and married as young as 14. These were NOT just "ceremonial" marriages. At least 11 of his wives were married to other LIVING men. There is 1 case where he had both a mother & daughter pair as wives. To pressure these middle-school aged girls into marriage, he told them things like: this will ensure your salvation, or this will allow you to be reunited in eternity with your deceased mother, or this will ensure the honor & prosperity of your whole family in eternity, or I don't want this anymore than you do but God has appeared to me and told me if I don't he will kill me. He would say whatever it took to get what he wanted. Prior to all of the polygamy (which some of his wives helped get a signed petition together for him saying he was NOT a polygamist), he was accused of "untoward advances" against 9 women in the space of 10 years, in 4 different states--it wasn't just 1 community, and it wasn't all after he was a controversial leading figure. The 1st was his wife's dear friend, on the very year he got married. There is legal documentation about all of these complaints & the proceedings & testimonies that followed. (Imagine how many others didn't complain!) The year Joseph Smith died he had himself ordained as King of the World, took a 14 year old girl as his wife, repeatedly tried to get his 1st counselor to be a "sexual substitute" for him with his wife Emma, ordered an assassination on a former governor, and was coordinating with multiple tribal leaders to set up cells around the country with an eye to overthrowing the US govt. And these Mormons believe somebody like this is capable of setting up a "True Church" and "Restoring the Gospel". If Mormons believe you must obey the 10 Commandments to obtain your eternal salvation, then the guy they sing "Praise to the Man" about is burning in hell for sure. His 1st counselor testified that he was demonstrably guilty of at least 7/10 of the commandments, but even he still believed the Book of Mormon was true! In Matthew 7, Jesus said: "A corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit...A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." They SAY they belong to the "Church of Jesus Christ", but they do not actually believe or follow what Jesus Christ taught. Jesus doesn't run that church any more than the Queen of England runs the United Kingdom. "They profess that they know God; but in their works they deny him..." (Titus 1:16) It's very plain to anyone who actually reads the Bible...which is one reason why there are increasing numbers of ex-Mormons! In fact, many non-Mormons argue that the Book of Mormon is NOT the "Word of God", but I have to partially disagree with them. It is obvious that 3 chapters from the Book of Abraham (which is a total fake) are taken straight from the 1769 edition of the King James Bible, and half of the content of 1st & 2nd Nephi are also plagiarized from that same edition of the Bible. There are lots of phrases & verses in the Book of Alma that are taken directly from the 1769 KJV as well...so, maybe it's 25% God's Word? (LOL) 6) As in any church where the leaders claim to have a message/revelation for the congregation that they received directly from God (and not from the study & exegesis of his Word), this type of activity causes the church to lose the important distinction between God & the man of God. They can often be found defending their leaders fiercely, because they think they are defending God. The leader (to them) is the conduit for God's Word to them. This is as true of the LDS church as it is of the Catholic church, or the Elevation church! Because of their conflated view of God/leadership, any "attack" on the leader or any edict from the leader are dealt with in a way the average Christian probably isn't equipped to respond to effectively. 7) The Bible says my role in combating spiritual blindness is a bit of a "support role only". I might like to reach in, convince, and save the day, but that is the role of the Holy Spirit. II Timothy 2:24-26 says that I should be ready/able to teach when an opportunity arises, but ultimately just PRAY that God will release them from their blindness & captivity. This tells me the amount of time & fervor I devote to preparing & delivering my arguments should be significantly less than the amount I expend in the discipline of prayer. My "perfect words" will not save the day, and if they could, I would have still lost the war, because their faith would be established in my reasoning rather than in the power of God's Word & the faith bestowed by the Holy Spirit.

Great civil and sincere discussion. Honestly I get the views on both sides (and with the bible scriptures not always being literal but sometime "figurative") I believe it would be easy for anyone to make assumptions on its meanings about many things . One of the big ones theologically speaking would be on the "trinity" - with many christian views on that subject) He (interviewer) brought up his points (on the "one god" - which actually came from the old testament that the "jews" wrote) while the elders brought up another good (and "biblical point also) from the "new testament" While Jesus was being baptized all 3 personages (including himself) were present! Ironically the name "trinity" itself is plural meaning 3 (which is plural). I don't think anyone believing in this concept would deny jesus was not a god, nor his father, nor the holy ghost. Perhaps they believe in the "one god" is more of a "team" vs individuals - but again sometimes its all in the nuances, wording, and semantics, etc. As per becoming like God, Jesus himself told the Jews "Are ye not Gods". Also the bible mentions we can become "Joint Heirs with Christ" Also it wouldn't be illogical to think that God (the Father) does / did have relatives before him too (who are we to say, or know that?) Also it wouldn't be unreasonable to say it was a possibility (as he always existed yes) but every year he gains more in glory and wisdom (thus his nature doesn't change) but his glory does. Since he is our father, doesn't a father want their sons (or daughters) to become like them? (Thats a "simple" pattern) I think most people can agree on. Again many of these "deeper" doctrines are not meet for salvation, but are more of icing on the cake. I think as christians we can all agree on Jesus Christ role as our savior and redeemer. One cool note that we can learn though about the nature of god is through the "first vision" is that God and Jesus are two separate beings! The apostle "stephen" in the bible also saw them together (and separate) before his martyrdom. Jesus was sitting on the right hand of God (His father). Okay food for thought and God bless :)

I very much enjoyed watching this video, but would ask these young men a question. We can agree God (the Heavenly Father) is omnipotent, no beginning and no end. He is the same yesterday, as He is today, as He will be tomorrow. THE SAME....never changing. That is scripture, as the young Pastore said to the LDS missionaries. God gives the commandment, "Thou shalt not kill." But then in Deuteronomy 20:15-16 God tells Joshua, ""15 Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations. 16 But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:" Then in Joshua 6:21, ""21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword." And again in Joshua 10:28, ""28 And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho." A lot of killing going on there. What happened to the 'unchanging' God? The scriptures as we know them have been translated time and time again. They have been changed from the original, yet the message of God and Jesus Christ still come through. The LDS folks are following a mostly a made-up religion, but still include just enough truth to make their message sound legitimate. Same goes for most of Christendom. Jesus said, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come." Really read and study the scriptures and look in-depth at what we have in them today. BELIEVE that the Heavenly Father will reveal the truth to you. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" Matthew 7:7 Amen

In the Greek, I think a better translation of John 1:1 would actually be “…and the Word was a God.” In the Greek, there are definite articles in all previous statements in that verse except for that last statement. It seems to me that this is one example of the translation suffering over time and languages.

It's the weirdest thing to me that most LDS missionaries that I've talked to have also said they don't think about or really study becoming gods themselves. Even though Joseph Smith said himself that it of "first importance of the gospel" they don't really think so or act like it. I would think becoming a god of your own planet being the point of your religion would be the biggest, most important thing you would know and study as an LDS member. It's just odd.

When God sent a prophet with a message that prophet was never wrong and the Bible says if a prophet gets one prophecy wrong he was not sent by God Almighty and the so called prophet Joseph Smith got more than one prophesy wrong so he was not ever a prophet nor from God the Father. Mormon’s and Islam made up their own books Smith and Mohammad put in those books what suited them and their cults and not what God and Jesus Christ taught. I hope the seeds planted in these two young men grasp a hold of their souls and conviction sets in so they find the truth and salvation Jesus Christ offers for free and realizes you can’t work your way into Heaven like the Mormon’s teach to their followers from birth. Pray for these young men. ☝️☝️🙏🙏🙏

The problem with religion is really the lack of humans understanding that they are limiting our Creators abilities. If he can create the earth and heavens. The stars the moon. Everything here then why do folks not think that he is the only God that exists? And also why couldn’t he come here in the flesh and live amongst us? He created all of us. God can do whatever he wants to do. That is the problem with humans we are literally dumb until we come and seek him and his wisdom.
