When the Mormon missionaries come knocking at your door, there is more than meets the eye. They say they are Christians, but there's a lot they are hiding from you! What would it look like if they were actually honest? Let's find out!

Sandy Carty I work with many and they are selective about obeying many of their beliefs. They will lie when it helps other mormons and admonish or lay off and fire a non mormon despite their work record or tenure if another mormon wants the job. And I have a mormon supervisor that guzzles Coke all day and complains that his wife makes him turn off his phone during church so he cant check NFL games. Sounds like my kind of religion. They are also one of the richest religions in the world and put money above everything. Marriott is a huge Mormon corporation and they have a book of mormon in each room and guess what they offer on the TV's in each hotel room for a fee? Yep X rated movies. What hypocrisy!

sonoran rain There are hypocrites in all denominations. And plenty of hypocrites who are not religious at all. That said, I've had experiences with Mormons who live their lives contrary to their professed moral tenets (again, that can be said about other denominations too - LDS Wards are not the only places in which people can be found casually talking throughout prayers at times for instance). I agree about Marriott - owned by a devout professed Mormon with a huge standing in the church culture.

Fun fact about the "magic underwear": Originally these holy symbols were cut into the underwear with a knife while the applicant was wearing it. But this, for some incomprehensible reason, lowered the number of converts drastically and so it was abandoned pretty soon.

Somehow, it recalls the Holy Bible accounts of demoniacs CUTTING THEMSELVES. Mormons: a cult. Now fully utilizing the very popular "The Chosen" series, financed by and returning profits to the Mormon family, the Harmon brothers, the One World Religion agenda is drawing in impressionable Christians with scripturally inaccurate storytelling, advancing occult endeavors and Catholic ritualism by sketchy cast and executive elements. Mormonism is merely a cult like the jehovah's witnesses and scientology. They were deceived by false prophets and freemasons. All were created by satan because he wants us dead, that's why he created them. They claim to save you if you follow their rules but the bible says; "by faith are ye save, through grace. It is the gift of God, not of works least any man should boast".- Ephesians 2:8-9 and "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."- John 3:16

This is not surprising since the amalgamate anything between the soul, human spirit, and what they believe which is that we were spirit children before coming to this world, that people can become angels or gods, it's not surprising that they would believe Jesus and loser for are brothers.

Madi Jones hello sister. Here is some information I found: Kolob is a star or planet described in Mormon scripture. Reference to Kolob is found in the Book of Abraham, a work that is traditionally held by adherents of the Mormon faith as having been translated from an Egyptian papyrus scroll by Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement. According to this work, Kolob is the heavenly body nearest to the throne of God. While the Book of Abraham refers to Kolob as a "star",[1] it also refers to planets as "stars",[2] and therefore, some Mormon commentators consider Kolob to be a planet.[3] The idea also appears in Mormon culture, including a reference to Kolob in a Mormon hymn.[

Nobody says not to question the leaders. They just ask you to go to them with your concerns instead of drawing people unto yourself. Your doubts are the same doubts anyone who is in a faith requiring religion eventually has to go through. I’ve been there, I’ve been in and out of activity in the LDS church (whether mentally or physically active) and remain even after losing belief in a God at all. Most people who leave lose faith in god, so naturally anything that requires faith or belief in things unseen or that sound logically impossible are mocked or cast aside as if they were silly.

@@dcarts5616 @parkerbarduhn9293 I read your post, here is a small portion of a Mormon sermon called "Give Joseph a break." The speaker says that as we look at the past through the eyes of the twentieth century, he says gives Joseph a break. This as a result of those who question the truth and veracity of him and the things he said. In the sermon, he says, that in the future, the heavenly father will reveal all, and what he reveals will exceed all the search engines in the world. Being a Mormon is not so much based on the word of God but on emotions and the ideas put forth by those in charge. Mormonism rests and falls on the words of Joseph Smith, we are all going to spend eternity somewhere, who and what you place your faith in will determine your eternal destiny. Are you going to trust the Bible and the Bible alone, or is it going to the Book of Mormonism and then the Bible? Here is a small clip of that sermon. I have included another video that came to light not to slam Mormonism but to share the truth with you. I'm sure this is not a high topic to talk about when in church. A Mormon man who worked for a financial arm of the Mormon Church uncovered the fact that over a twenty-year period, a nonprofit arm of the Mormon Church had built a stock fund to the tune of one hundred billion dollars this coming from the tithes of members. So the question is I guess in my mind is Mormonism a religion masquerading as a business or a business masquerading as a religion? kzfaq.infolnmveIXR_Zo?si=TaFshq96BDCLjyuH kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oZmPecuinNmpeKM.htmlsi=GD1xvissgDFb6uVA

@@nsasquad7220 So it would have been the same gospel, not a new gospel with new requirements. The Book of Revelation is full of end times prophecy. @@lawrencehorner8418 agreed.. the same gospel, but the fulness there of. There are many reasons for the existance of so many different churches. Most commonly you will find difference in interpretation and people not agreeing with one another. The fact that there are so manu churches is prove of the fulness of the gospel being lost, so anyone could say anything and start a church. That is why we speak of a "restoration", because if the gospel wasn't "broken"(fulness of it taken out), then there was no restoration needed. I can give you traces in the Bible of how the fulness of the gospel is not in it. We (members of the church of Jesus Christ) believe that the Book of Mormon contains this fulness and together (BoM and Bible) testify of Christ(by the mouth of 2 or more witnesses remember? ) and now with 2 testimonies you cannot talk about "interpretation" anymore. Also, they killed the prophets and apostles, read Amos 3:7... They are needed to keep the doctrine pure and full.

Thirty five years ago, two missionaries came by my office. We had good conversations and they returned for fellowship and prayer each day for a week. I found them friendly , engaging and somewhat persuasive. On their last visit, one of the missionaries gave me a book entitled "Jesus Christ" by James Talmadge and said another pair of missionaries would visit the following week. In reading, the book, I came across the assertion that God the father was once a mortal human and that we all can work toward divinity like him. When the second set of missionaries came, I asked them about it. The lead missionary asked me where I heard about it. I told him the first couple had given me Mr. Talmadge's book. He then said, "You were not supposed to see that book until after you entered the church." I politely escorted them to the door.

Not only did God made people in his image (male + female!, notice Elohim is plural) but also as the Bible explains, people are God's children. Consider if there is a difference to say that humans have God's "genes" or that God has human "genes" - it is just one "genes", one race, a family. Children are supposed to become like their parents, and every loving parent wants them to. Every parent was once a child and also had parents. And there was no beginning to this and there will be never end of this. Just a different time and space. The book you read is one of the best to understand what Jesus actually did and who he is. "You were not supposed to see that book .." was maybe just a worry, to protect you from getting confused from too heavy info before understanding the basics. The knowledge comes little by little in time as the Spirit enlightens the mind. But might be difficult to digest meat before milk.

essentially a poor way to phrase an appropriate answer. same reason its completely reasonable to join Judaism without knowing all the finite details of Kabbalah, or to be baptized into any orthodox christian church without reading a full analysis of the Nag Hammadi codeceis. Its deeper than is necessary, since all that was required in the early christian era for baptism was a pronouncement of faith in the Lord and a change of heart, before baptism Now, they SHOULD have explained it to you, since you'd run across the information on your own, it would have been much better for you to at least understand what you read, but, cut the missionaries some slack. They have only three weeks of formal training (if they're english speaking) before heading out into the field with a "sink or swim" approach, guided only by a missionary a bit more seasoned than them, though the most seasoned missionary has a maximum of two years experience.

In my own personal journey in Mormonism, I had two shelf-breaking shocks. The first was the temple endowment ceremony. I had to strip naked and had a poncho over me. An old man touched my body in various places and anointed me including "the loins". The ceremony started with a warning over the speaker: "If you proceed and receive your full endowment, you will be required to take upon yourselves sacred obligations, the violation of which will bring upon you the judgments of God, for God will not be mocked." I had no idea what I was getting into. It was the first major clue that I was in a cult, and I had to mimic ways in which I could have my life taken if I were to violate those vows, including revealing things that I was being taught. I went on my mission shortly after that. When I was teaching Mormonism I began to understand that what I was teaching to new perspective members wasn't a fair representation of what the church teaches the members, especially when they get to the endowment phase. This video would have been wonderful to see before I became LDS. It would have saved me from converting to Mormonism and wasting valuable years of my life.

I recently visited a Christian Church in Utah that is primarily attended by Ex Mormons. I spoke with a group of young men who left the church after their mission. I'm an ex-mormon and returned missionary. I was never told in the MTC or anywhere at any time to lie, and any such an admonishment would have seemed extremely out of place. I can't claim such a thing was never said, but if it was I feel confident it's not something routinely stated. That being said, mormonism definitely adheres to a "milk before meat" way of thinking where the crazier parts are not discussed with the public or new converts, and the craziest stuff is not even discussed amongst members and the leadership has been heavily involved with whitewashing it's history, witholding evidence and documents, and editing their scriptures and past statements of leadership. The organization is dishonest, but it's not the case that lay members or missionaries are directly told to lie, though the highest ranking leadership are absolute conmen. Interesting article here: www.mormonthink.com/lying.htm

They do say that. "It's ok to lie as long as it is not to another Mormon." Smith used deception if in his mind; it resulted in a good outcome. Smith believed he knew when God approved of lying. For example, Smith wrote that God commanded the prophet Abraham to lie to protect himself and his wife Sarah from harm (Abraham 2:23-25). Smith believed God also approved of murder if it was for a good cause. He wrote in the Book of Mormon that Nephi was inspired by God (1 Nephi 4:6) to deceive and murder his uncle to obtain an Israelite history. In Missouri, Smith and his counselor Sidney Rigdon, threatened to kill Mormons who disagreed with Smith's commands (Quinn, The Mormon Hierarchy: Origins of Power, Chapter 3, "Theocratic Beginnings," pp. 79-103).

Once a month on Fast Sunday, after you starve yourself, you get to stand before the congregation and speak into a microphone and say that you know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God who restored the true church and that the church has a prophet today and that the church is the only true church on the earth. It's repetitive and redundant. The Temple part was accurate also. But living it and going through the temple is hours of ritual stuff when the overall themes here are drawn out and magnified. The final stage is doing these secret handshakes on one side of a curtain through a hole (like a glory hole minus the blow job). I am LDS and a student at Brigham Young University. As a life long member of my faith, I have struggled at times to understand certain "problems" and/or "controversies" surrounding Joseph Smith, his vision, the gold plates, the seer stone, and many other things. This semester, I decided to take a course that the university offers called "Joseph Smith and the Restoration." In this class we look at a variety of primary sources (both positive and negative) that examine the events surrounding the organization of the church in the 1800s. While it is difficult to approach this subject without our biases, we have attempted to look at the events from a historical standpoint as well as a spiritual one. My studies have brought me to a few key assertions that have strengthened my faith in Jesus Christ, my Heavenly Father, and his Prophets. #1: Joseph Smith was a man, a young man in a historical context and culture that is so different from ours today. Many of the "controversial" things surrounding his life can be understood through a clearer understanding of his social and cultural construct. Furthermore, as stated above, he was just a man, an imperfect man who went through so much suffering and stress at a young age. By the age of 27 he had organized a religion, translated (or written if you don't believe he translated it) the Book of Mormon, buried more than one of his children who's lives were lost to illness, been beaten by mobs, tarred and feathered by one who claimed to be his friend, betrayed by several others of friends in contemptuous ways, and he had lead a group of citizens who were reviled for their faith across 5 states by wagon and foot. Summing it up: he had a bunch on his plate. I don't expect perfection of him or of every little word he said; but I do know that if I study what he claimed to be revelation in the spirit of sincere prayer that I am lead to be closer to my Savior. The Book of Mormon bears witness of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice and anyone who reads it cannot deny that his mission is central to the mission of the text. #2: You talk about a lot of lies and I don't blame you for feeling that way. I felt that way too when I found out certain things later in life about the church that I had not known before. However, I can better reconcile these emotions in light of Paul's council to the Corinthians: "I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able" (1 Corinthians 3:2). We need the simple stuff before we can stomach the more complex things. I am sure when Peter and Paul preached to the gentiles they kept much under wraps in their initial visits because they wanted to focus on the simple and important truths, not with a mission to deceive but with a desire to inspire. I do not think they said to all in their first visits that one of their Master's best friends sold his life for a few coins, Moses and Elijah appeared to him on a mountain, and almost everyone in Jerusalem thought that they were all a bunch of looneys for believing a story about a resurrected being that the Roman army proved was a fake because they saw the disciples remove the corpse from the tomb. You will find there is very little of that in the epistles and in the acts, but there is a significant amount of these men focusing on Christ's atonement for man's sins and the duties which they as followers of Christ were expected to fulfill. Maybe that is all a stretch and I am basing it on my own phenomenology, but I hope it makes sense to you too. #3: Life is a learning process and most of these young missionaries that come to your door are very young and have a lot to learn. I know. I served a two year mission and I made plenty of mistakes in the way which I taught people. I tried my best but was often clumsy and a little too over-excited about my faith perhaps. It was especially difficult because I had to preach in Portuguese, a language I did not speak one word of when I started my mission. These boys and girls sacrifice two years of their lives to go out and share what they believe. Many of them hadn't taught a lesson about anything before they left. Many of them have family struggles at home based on finances, shaky relationships, and sometimes death. The past two years of my life have been spent teaching these missionaries at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, UT where I teach them the Portuguese language, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and how to teach that Gospel in a simple and clear way. I have not been a perfect teacher, but I have always tried my best to follow what I believe to be promptings from the Holy Ghost to help these young, often nervous, men and women prepare to preach. They are not perfect in knowledge, they are not perfect in teaching, they are not perfect in behavior, but many of them are near perfect in their desire to serve the Lord in the best way they know possible. Lastly, your name is Saved XMormon. If you are happy because you left our faith then please continue to build your faith in Jesus Christ; however, please don't do it by mocking young men and women who are just doing the best they can to teach their message and please don't belittle their hard work and sacrifice. Few people care as much about the people they teach as do Mormon missionaries. Even if I were to have left another faith to join this church I would not publicly mock those of my past faith who shared with a message that meant a lot to them out of the bottom of their heart. May our Heavenly Father bless you and all those who view this video that they can seek His will through sincere prayer and pondering. P.S. Good job on the art! I don't know if you do this animation stuff a lot, but I was pretty impressed by all the work you did. I doodle super heroes sometimes but I have never attempted digital animation. Did you get this program online? Was it free? I might it use to make some videos for my classroom or for assignments (I'll be a high school English teacher after I graduate this April).

Stephen Nothum Thank you for your thought out response. However, social context doesn't resolve the problems with Joseph's theology, nor does implying that Joseph Smith was human and imperfect. No prophet has ever been perfect, we are all sinners. But when a prophet - a true prophet claims to be speaking on behalf of the Lord - what follows must be perfect. So either he lied or he didn’t. So how do we know if he was lying? Well, for one we know what God has already told us - so just line up Joseph’s teachings with that. For instance, Joseph taught during the King Follett discourse that god was once a man who eventually attained godhood, that the universe is filled with gods, and that men may become gods. However, in Isaiah 43:10 God said in as plain language as is possible that there were no gods before Him, and there will be none after Him. As a prophet, Joseph LIED. --> therefore, false prophet. As for the "missionaries" - my real purpose isn't to ridicule them as individuals - having gone through that hell myself for two years I fell a great amount of pity for them - beyond just knowing that they are following and preaching a false gospel. And though they are unseasoned in life, they are still not entirely innocent - most of the missionaries I served with were very arrogant, myself included. I thought I was an LDS doctrinal expert (amazing that in truth I couldn't possibly have been more ignorant), and it was driven into us that as the ONLY official and ordained ambassadors (other than the "bretheren") of the ONLY true church on the earth we had more power and authority as individuals than all the ministers of all of Christianity combined! And we walked around believing that. So they should be able to stomach what this video offers. The missionary scenario simply put was the best way to present the information I wished to convey so I went with it. And as for the two kids themselves, they're fictional characters, not based on any specific person, it's just satire so just take it for that.

The Bible contradicts itself all the time so to point out some scriptures that contradict LDS doctrine doesn't really phase me. There are scriptures that "contradict" nearly every Christian faith, which is why so many of them branch off and prescribe to different doctrine. One reason this happens is because when the Bible was Jerome originally translated from the Greek and Hebrew into Latin he was highly influenced by Neoplatonic theories of thought. Neoplatonism was a temporal theory based on man's wisdom (and we know that God's thoughts are above mans so to combine the two for a translation might not produce the best fruit). This first translation was called the Vulgate and it was the standard in Christianity for over one thousand years. It was not until Martin Luther got the original Greek and Hebrew and translated them into German that he saw all of the issues with the translation and how doctrines had been affected by Jerome's translation (95 thesis). Now 1000 years of Christianity has come and gone, all influenced by one mentor text (the Vulgate) which was a bad translation (not the thoughts of the LDS church, but of scholars of translation theory). Now, we have a book that has been through so much translation and shifts in states of mind. It is no wonder that there are discrepancies in doctrine between all faiths. Now, I read and study the Bible daily and I cherish its words; but I always take into consideration these facts surrounding the genesis of the KJV of the Bible that I use today. I must study with a spirit of prayer so that I do not misunderstand the doctrine as it may be clouded with the errors of translation. With that said, my testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is clear and simple: "Jesus Christ taught by your fruits ye shall know them." I have tried to live the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the scriptures and by modern day prophets--I have seen the fruits and they are wonderful. I do not wish to discuss logic, rhetoric, or organization; these are useful concepts, but they are inventions of man. I do wish to witness that I believe what I believe because I followed Jesus Christ's advice about looking to their fruits and it is clear that this gospel has brought me closer to my Savior and helped me to understand His Atonement.

I don't know why you even bother trying to argue with me, since in a naturalistic world, I'm simply determined to believe what I'm going to believe. However, you arguing the way you do demonstrates to me that you seem to think I have the ability to freely choose otherwise. The evidence is quite clear that this good leader under question claimed to be God in human flesh. He was either a nut, liar, or He was really who He claimed to be. Given the prophecies written about Him hundreds, thousands of years before He came on the scene (e.g., Isaiah 53), and given an inference to the best explanation from history that He rose from the dead, my money is on Him rather than you or anyone else. Again, if you want more development of all this, then please check out www.ColdCaseChristianity.com. If you want more to read on the defense of the Christian faith, then please check out www.PleaseConvinceMe.com.

These were things I didn't know until after I joined the Mormon Church. Also, I was never told that black people had dark skin because they had been cursed by God and so the black men weren't allowed to hold the priesthood. Nor was I told about Joseph Smith's polygamy or that he "translated" the golden plates that became the Book of Mormon using a seer stone that he put into a hat. There are many other things they don't tell you. You learn about them once you are deep into the religion. And there are even veteran members who still don't know these things.

I was born and raised Mormon. My whole family is Mormon. I was always a bit of a black sheep, and I am so thankful because as I got older and started to seek the truth, I was able to look through nonbias' eyes. I am now a born-again Christian. But sadly, my family, even with facts when talking to them they view it as being prosecuted, and they always turn a blind eye to many important facts. A lot of them have said they don't agree with some of it. And I don't understand that. You ether believe it or you dont. And as for me, the truth was more important because I personally don't want to live a lie. Please pray for my family that they wake up to the truth 🙏 ✝️ ❤ Thos video is very good!

Joseph Smith taught his followers, "GOD HIMSELF WAS ONCE AS WE ARE NOW, AND IS AN EXALTED MAN, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity, I will refute that idea, and will take away and do away the veil, so that you may see It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God.. AND THAT HE WAS ONCE A MAN LIKE US; yea, that God himself the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth the same as Jesus Christ himself did; ... to know the only wise and true God; and YOU HAVE GOT TO LEARN HOW TO BE GODS YOURSELVES, and priests to God, THE SAME AS ALL GODS HAVE DONE BEFORE YOU.” Smith announced this brand new teaching at a funeral for Elder King Follett who accidentally fell into a well and was killed. The funeral took place during the time of General Conference, Sunday, Nauvoo, Illinois, April 7 1844, 14 years after Smith had written the Book of Mormon. Also at this time, Smith was campaigning to become President of the United States. -------------------- The above quote from Joseph Smith is published in the following official LDS publications; Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pages 345-346, compiled by Joseph Fielding Smith, 10th prophet of LDS; History of the Church, Vol. 6 (1843-1844) pages 302-17; Achieving a Celestial Marriage, page 129, Published by: Church of Jesus Christ of Larter-day Saints My Kingdom Shall Roll Forth, Pub. 1979, page 7, Published by: Church of Jesus Christ of Larter-day Saints This is a partial list of Mormon publication where this popular quote is cited. Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6 of 26, pages 3-4. -------------------- This obviously is not referring to the God of the Bible and Christians, who was, is and will always be the Lord God Almighty, was never a man on another earth that became a Mormon polygamist exalted man god.

+truthseeker staats Your comment is very hard to decipher. I don't know which words are typos and which are just grammatical errors. You asked if I was the missionary getting slapped in the video, which is a cartoon, so I answered sarcastically that yes I'm a cartoon. I could tell you which specific mission I went to, from which ward in which stake, the date I reported to the MTC, under which branch president and with which companion I served as district leader there, who my roommates were on which floor in which building, and who my mission president, trainer, companions, DLs, ZLs, and APs were in the field, but my privacy concerns are greater than my need to prove myself to a random guy on KZfaq. Suffice it to say, I absolutely was a missionary for the Mormon church. Nothing in my first post was a lie, I just didn't want people who don't know much about Mormonism to be deceived by the comments posted about the video being totally untrue. I've seen, been taught, exposed to, and experienced the things in this video for myself. I guarantee I'm a much more credible fact checking source on Mormon doctrine than some kid blindly defending what their parents have raised them in a Mormon bubble to believe. Any Mormons claiming this video is totally false are most likely too young, too recently baptised, or for whatever other reasons have never been through the temple themselves. Since it's too "sacred" (secret) to discuss what goes on inside the temple, any Mormon who hasn't been through it themself has never been given the slightest idea of what ACTUALLY goes on inside, to such an extent that most people, including myself and many of the friends I grew up with in the church, are confused, bewildered, and even put off by the unusual, cult-like ceremonies performed inside. Even being raised Mormon attending church weekly my entire life I wouldn't have been a credible source about what goes on inside Mormon temples until I finally went through myself at age 18. I probably wouldn't have believed it either. It was hard enough to believe when I went through and saw it with my own two eyes

That's not because they're necessarily kind, uplifting people. That is something they are told to do (Its basic indoctrination 101) Same way cults tell their members to behave towards outsiders. In the mormon church, you're pressured into alway putting on a "Good Show" to portray; -yourself as super happy, -your family as a good, happy, wholesome family Because if you ever let anyone see that you have the same sort of, perfectly normal... personal/family problems, as everyone else . . .it reflects badly on the entire church. -They pressure people to behave that way, &make their members feel that; anything less... & they're behavior will make the entire church look bad. (& you don't want to make god angry, by making his 1 true church look bad! Do you?) Trust me Plenty of mormon families, that "look" like their family is as happy & wholesome as "Leave it to Beaver" . . .are just putting on a show & If you could see deeper into their personal & family lives, they would look less like Leave it to Beaver & more like 1990's Rosanne

(Especially anyone who WAS a mormon, but later later they GAVE UP the beliefs/church) In that case, it's perfectly cool, (&often encouraged) to openly portray their NON-MORMON family members as terrible people. It doesn't make the church look bad at all, if they tell you; "We grew up with drug addicted parents, who never followed the teachings of the mormon church. But now, we're living happy lives as members of the church of later day saints" -But you're absolutely correct. I should have expressed myself more clearly! They can openly "bad mouth" family members, &/or aspects of their lives that were messy . . .that are "outside" of the church. -And of course that's just a rule of thumb. If you get to be close friends with someone who is mormon, (especially someone who is questioning their beliefs/church) ...they'll often open up to you more honestly about their life. It's just a super common behavior that seems widespread among mormons. They're taught to; always portray the church "in the best light possible". I was once a member of the LDS church. I no longer believe in it. If LDS missionaries told people about some of the deeper doctrines and temple ordinances when preparing them for baptism, I think there would be a far lower success rate in getting new members. When I was brought into the church they made sure to teach me about eternal families and the celestial plan right near the beginning of the course, but waited for weeks to tell me about tithing, only AFTER I’d committed to baptism. By that time you’re scared to back out because there’s always the fear that they’re right and that you won’t get to reunite with your wife and kids in the afterlife, so you agree to pay tithing and go through with your baptism. Its the old trick of convincing someone they can’t do without something and THEN sting them with all the catches. It’s the sort of trick you’d expect from any cheap salesman. The strength of the LDS church and, indeed, most (if not all) religions lays in their ability to exploit the human fear of death, and the sorrow that comes about from losing loved ones. Once you can exploit that fear you can get people to do whatever you want them to.

It is sad how the devil corrupts and creates these false churches to get people to zealously serve a false god and than leave so brainwashed and want nothing to do with another lie, so they don't seek out the true God

Christians believe that families and friends are together in heaven with God. We just don't emphasize it. According to Jesus, when we die, we are no longer married. That is something from earth. We serve a different purpose in heaven, but that doesn't mean that we don't take the love with us.

It's like if I said "Hey, do you want some ice cream?" And then, as you reach out to take it, I throw it on the ground. Say I follow all this stuff about no sex before marriage and ai die before that happens. I'm basically punished for following the rules.

There are many issues with Mormonism vs. Biblical Christianity. I am ex-LDS, now a born again Christian. There are some very serious issues theologically with Mormonism I have came across. In this video, it was presented that Mormons are Polytheistic, which they are completely and Christians are Monotheistic, because of what the Bible teaches.... But you know.... D & C 20:17 and Alma 11:26 both declare Eternal Monotheism. This would go against what Joseph Smith taught with that God was once a man along with other Prophets. I read in a comment down below Mormonism the least we need to worry about because they are good people. Well, I love Mormons. I am in a heavy LDS community in Utah Mountains and 90% are Mormon here.... But the problem with Mormonism is they are not saved and they are leading other people to destruction with them. I am praying that I am able to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with my neighbors.... I love them so much and even my own family is Mormon..... They Need Jesus.... Thanks for sharing.

Angelmou I believe in creation and therefore am responsible to a Creator and have put my trust in Him thus, not having a life without meaning when I die..... You, sounds like, have no hope in your belief (evolution is a belief) and when you die, in my eyes, you will have eternal separation and punishment from God. Hmmmmmm..... That is a hard choice, correct? I admit, mine is faith. Yours is to. I just have hope. I am sorry for you.

shanestjohn1 1.) Feelings of Sensefulness or Meaning are a taste, like liking carrots instead of beans. It is not generalizable at all. Someone feels fulfilled, when he climbs a mountain or sees his daughter smiling the first time, while another guy or girl hates mountains, doesn't like kids at all and loves watching wrestling. 2.)The Model of Natural Selection, called Evolutiontheory is a model which explains the facts of changing of lifeforms with natural breeding processes by predators, parasites, climate changes, rivalvry, poisons, sexual preferences like colorful feathers etc. It is not an "opinion" to know that it works, similar to the Theory of the Earth orbiting the Sun, which is also only a "model", only a theory. You can't "try" it on sunday or maybe monday and it doesn't give you satisfaction. 3.)"You will have eternal separation and punishment from God. That is a hard choice, correct?" Nope. Your pleading is at the exact same level as someone, who is pleased by a visit in a brothel, telling me how incredible satisfying his visit was, while someone calls this sinful and is disgusted by it. The god-believe-sin or jesus-love-sin is at the exact same level. It is pure hedonism. If you wouldn't get hope=pleasure out of it, but instead depression or physical pain, like a nail is ripped out, you would drop it in a wink of an eye. In fact you are associating cold scientific explanations with personal negative instincts. "Oh they are cold, hopeless and senseless, so I need to satisfy my animal instincts instead with emotional porn!" It is pathetic. /watch?v=nSqJ-7tg0Eo just emotional porn.

Angelmou I don't see how you wouldn't be depressed by not having hope? Just live and die, for no reason other than the grave is our destiny? If I was an evolutionist, I would definitely be depressed because there is no hope. You definitely seem to believe in what you do for your reasons. I don't agree with you, but you show lots of faith, much more than mine. I feel bad for you, I know this doesn't affect you, but I do... I hate to see good people with no hope.
@Angelmou
@Angelmou 9 жыл бұрын
shanestjohn1 That is not really a reply to my statement. I explained that depressions (negative emotions) and believing of being chosen, also hope (a specific form of joyment) are randomly connected individually and therfor mean nothing, when it comes to decribing parts of reality like the Planets orbiting the Sun or the selection factors for animal populations for example. The hope for gold at the end of the rainbow won't change the rainbow in something else than an optical reflection phenomena in the distance. "If I was an evolutionist, I would definitely be depressed because there is no hope." Hope-absence, similar to the absence of a sexual orgasm doing describtion in whatever model about reality is just another reason why a model is correct, because it is not connected to human desires and dreams, only to reality alone. No one can be an "evolutionist" or a "gravitationist" - even when many christian people freaked out as Newton claimed that not Angels by the command of god moves the "heavenly bodies", as it was believed during that time. Here the world as it was decribed in the bible: www.earlyjewishwritings.com/images/genesisearth.jpg While people believed the stars where divine lights of heaven behind the waters of the skydome where god flooded the world through the windows/gates according to the Noa(c)h myth. As I said before feeling depressed about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, doesn't change what a rainbow is. The human or person and their pleasure seeking for personal salvation is not in the middle but the field of research. When we do talk about parts of reality it would be bizarre if someone begins to talk how much he wants to get a specific meal the next day. This person would be entirely driven by his animal instincts for eat enjoyment, sex enjoyment, salvation hopes - No rational person is such a puppet. For some odd reason religious people focus on what they desire the most and want it to become real. An egocentric, even egomaniac position upon what someones may enjoy. Maybe the main reason, why they want to doom other forms of enjoyment, like the hope to get their own planets (mormonism) etc. which based on the exact same desires, just another bizarre form of it disconnected to the real world.

Latter-day Saints Are Not Freemasons … In attempting to suggest that temple rituals were copied from the Freemasons nothing could be further from the truth; although, at the time of Joseph Smith, the prophet encouraged all the members of the church to join the Masons because it was felt that belonging to the Masons would afford a certain amount of acceptance and protection. It is true that the Masonic rites have a lot in common with ours; nevertheless, no matter how many points of contact one may detect between them, there is a world of difference between temple ceremonies and Freemasonry. There are many symbols and gestures that are alike; and yet, the Masons were not the first to use these forms of symbolism. For example: "Handclasps" can be found in ancient religious art and literature. This topic is expanded by David Calabro in his book “The Divine Handclasp in the Hebrew Bible”. He starts out with-- descriptions of and an analysis of ritual handclasps in the Old Testament and in Near Eastern Iconography with examples from Egyptian, Hittite and Phoenician art. Then he explores possible meanings of the gesture, linking it also to the ritual raising the hand as gestures accompanying oaths and covenants. Of course all this means that the Latter-day Saints did not get their ceremonies from the Masons because, all of these things were used historically long before the existence of the Freemasons. Today, some speculate that these similarities have a common ancestor or original source. In the meantime, regardless of source, the Saints use symbolism for their unique purposes which are entirely different from the Masons and the Masons use the same symbols for their unique and entirely different purposes. In other words, the similarities are on the outside only. PEACE

TO: @@Lordslothable Sorry I did not respond to your comment sooner; I did not receive your reply under my notification bell. FYI Philosophers and theology often define according to His characteristics. Sorry if you find this convention not to your liking. Here's the definition from The Encyclopedia of Mormonism. ... God Author: Yarn, David H. Latter-day Saints declare, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost" (A of F 1). Joseph Smith offered the following clarification: "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit" (D&C 130:22; see God the Father; Holy Ghost; Jehovah, Jesus Christ). The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are three separate and distinct beings who constitute one Godhead. Generally speaking, the Father is the Creator, the Son is the Redeemer, and the Holy Ghost is the Comforter and Testifier (cf. MFP 5:26-34; TPJS, p. 190). Many scriptural passages illustrate the distinct character of the members of the Godhead. For example, at the baptism of Jesus, while he was in the water, the Father's voice was heard from heaven, and the Holy Ghost descended "like a dove" and rested upon the Son (Matt. 3:13-17; see Jesus Christ: Baptism of Jesus Christ). All three persons were manifested separately and simultaneously. Also, Jesus said, "My Father is greater than I" (John 14:28), and in another place declared, "The Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son" (John 5:22). Further, Jesus pointed to the Father and himself as two separate witnesses of the divinity of his work (John 5:32-37;8:12-18). On the Mount of Transfiguration the heavenly Father identified the mortal Jesus to Peter, James, and John as "my beloved Son" (Matt. 17:5). Moreover, the Son often prayed to his Father. In Gethsemane he prayed to the Father while in deep anguish (Mark 14:32-39; cf. Luke 22:40-46; D&C 19:16-19), and on the cross he cried out to the Father, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matt. 27:46; Mark 15:34; cf. Ps. 22:1). All of these passages clearly show that the Father is a being distinct from the Son. Although they are one in mind and purpose, they are two separate individuals and bear testimony of one another (cf. 3 Ne. 11:7-11). The way in which the Godhead is one is illustrated by Jesus' prayer that his disciples would be one, even as he and the Father are one (John 17:21-22; cf. 3 Ne. 11:27, 32-36;28:10-11). Here he was praying for his disciples' unity of mind, purpose, and testimony, not for the merger of their identities into a single being. He prayed that they would be one in desire, purpose, and objective, exactly as he and his Father are (TPJS, p. 372; see Unity). The Father, as God, is omnipotent, omniscient, and, through his spirit, omnipresent (see Light of Christ). He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abundant in goodness. His course is one eternal round. He is a God of truth and no respecter of persons. He personifies love. Though Latter-day Saints extensively use the scriptures to learn about God, their fundamental knowledge concerning him is based upon the Prophet Joseph Smith's first vision, the Prophet's subsequent revelatory experiences, and individual personal revelation. While mankind may reason or speculate concerning the existence of God, and his nature, the principal way by which they can know about God is dependent upon his revealing himself to them (see Testimony of Jesus Christ). Before A.D. 325, the date of the first Christian ecumenical council at Nicaea, the nature of God was debated by philosophers and people of faith. Since then, the concept of God has been the subject of ecumenical councils, philosophical discussions, and creeds. None of these is the source of the LDS understanding of God. To be sure, many classical arguments for the existence of God have been advanced, including the ontological arguments of Anselm, the five "proofs" of St. Thomas Aquinas, the teleological argument of Descartes, the ethical argument of Leibniz, and the postulates of practical reason of Kant. As impressive as any of these might be as achievements of the human intellect, none of them is the source of faith in God for Latter-day Saints, whose faith is based upon personal testimony grounded in personal experience (see Epistemology; Faith in Jesus Christ; Reason and Revelation). The last chapter of the Book of Mormon records this promise: "And when ye shall receive these things [of God], I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things" (Moro. 10:4-5). The personal witness that one receives in answer to prayer is called a testimony. Latter-day Saints teach that through this source a person can receive a sure witness that God lives, a confirmation regarding the various principles that the scriptures teach, and clarification where it is needed. Belief in God, or a measure of faith in him, is essential to finding the reality of his existence. Inasmuch as God exists, and human beings are his children, it is important for men and women to know these facts because such knowledge is a component of eternal life (John 17:3). Individuals need to know that they are themselves eternal beings, that they are dependent upon God for their earthly existence (cf. Mosiah 2:21), and that their future condition depends on how they relate to God and keep his commandments (see Commandments; Obedience). God loves his children and has provided the means for them to realize their divine potential (see Godhood). God has given humankind the program for his children as a whole (see Plan of Salvation, Plan of Redemption), and through the gift of the Holy Ghost he gives special guidance to individuals as they seek it (see Inspiration). God revealed his will to prophets in ancient times and to apostles in the meridian of time, and he continues to reveal himself to living prophets and apostles in the latter days. Learning of God's existence creates the desire to know him, and know what he would have one do or be. As one's faith and knowledge of God increase, one desires more and more to keep God's commandments and feel close to him (see Faith in Jesus Christ). The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that knowing the true character of God forms the basis for the faith that leads to salvation (Lectures on Faith 4:1; see Lectures on Faith). Jesus promised that the Comforter, or Holy Ghost, would be sent to one who keeps God's commandments (John 14:26). The ideal is to enjoy that influence continuously. The Prophet Joseph Smith said, "It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God, and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another, and that he was once a man like us: yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did" (TPJS, pp. 345-46). Further, "God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret. If the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visible,-I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form-like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another" (TPJS, p. 345). Thus, all humans must learn from God who they are, where they came from, why they are on earth, where they are going, and what their eternal potential is, by studying the scriptures and receiving personal revelation. All things center in God. Abel God is my friend. Wingardium Leviosa ! =========== * * * .

I lived in Salt Lake City and I had the opportunity to visit a temple being built and it had not been dedicated yet, and they were giving tours and they had 3 or 4 layers of plastic covering the floors and they made us wear plastic booties over our shoes. It was odd because it wasn't like a church where you have one large room with pews and a pulpit and or altar. There were all these various rooms, each room was for a different ceremony. And a very fancy looking locker room, think YMCA meets 5th Avenue and Gucci. The only room that had pews was a room they use for singing hymns and the choir. Very strange, and they think us Catholics are strange.

You are correct in saying these temples are different from chapels or churches. They are much more sacred than our churches and are used during the week. These are actually closed on Sunday even to church members.

Have you ever seen how so many people suffer because they don't follow what the LDS church teaches? I have seen it. You hear about it everyday. If living a life that brings joy and happiness comes from what you call a "cult", then I am happy to be a part of that "cult". I'd like you to tell me what is so wrong with it. All I see is a faith that teaches you not to do things you will later regret, and that if by chance you do something that you regret, then a way is provided to help you make amends to anyone you may have hurt, and to then find peace.

Ok I’m Mormon and have been every since I was born and this video is 100% accurate a while ago I quit going to church (I’m 14) and I was so happy and living my best life finally being able to hang out with my friends on Sunday, being able to drink coffee, and being able to stay up late and not having to wake up and think abt serving the church all the time. But soon as I quit about 1 month later the missionaries and bishopric would always be showing up at my house and being so nice and be like “we all love and miss you so much” and my mom tried her hardest to get me back to church and I finally gave up with ignoring everyone from church, always having my mom come in my room and say prayers, and so much dumb stuff. Atm I’m back at church, but not following any of their requirements lol, just can’t wait till I’m 18 so I can move out... fake it to u make it

To: @Joyeuse Robinson ... Re: N.O.M., Name Only Mormon ... You may have lived a faithful life as a Latter-day Saint but you were not a TBT&T Mormon = a True Blue Through and Through Latter-day Saint ~ because, you did not have a true and abiding testimony of the Church ~ and the proof is that you do not abide in the Church ~ you were a N.O.M. ... You should also be aware that a temple sealing is only a ceremony until it is ratified by the Holy Spirit. So ... NO ... your temple marriage has not been sealed. Going to the temple is analogous to first communion in as much as Mormons basically renew their baptism by formalized covenants to keep the commandments, remain chaste, and to serve god. There is nothing new that is learned in the temple except for some signs and symbols which represent concepts that are taught before you are baptized. It is not the symbolism but it is your commitment to Jesus Christ that is totally significant and that cannot be expressed, duplicated, seen, or taught in a video. The type of commitment found in the temple can only be found in those who give all their heart, might, mind, and soul to the Lord~ and that’s what the temple is all about. Here's some more doctrine that you didn't understand. We Shall Be Like Him Latter-day Saints do not believe that we will become gods in the same sense that God is God. God is God and will always be God. The Church of Jesus Christ teaches that we will worship our Heavenly Father as God throughout all eternity. We believe that we can become Joint-heirs with Christ- in other words, we can become Christ-like. 2 Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, because we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3.2) IMNSHO In my opinion, the fact that you were at one time a member of the Church does not make you a reliable source to speak to the truth claims of the Church. In my opinion, in regards to Church history, doctrine, and practices, you are a total illiterate Therefore, You should stop trash-talking my church. Other than that ~ We wish you well. Nice video. I've had conversations with them and some of that stuff has come out. They sound just like Jehovah's Witnesses where everyone else is "false religion" and God chose only their group to spread "the truth" and set things straight. NO ONE has a perfect understanding of scripture...so EVERYONE has one or more beliefs that are wrong. But if you're taught by the Holy Spirit, you are on a path of learning truth that requires you to leave behind previous held false beliefs and to follow Jesus, not men. It casts serious doubt when someone claims to be directed by holy spirit and yet follows men. The Holy Spirit teaches you to follow Christ and that he's the only one you need as pastor (shepherd).

Gigi Moyse Hi Gigi; I just came home from the baptism of a young man who met the Mormon missionaries at his door just five weeks ago. He really appreciated what they shared with him about the Savior, Jesus Christ, about the atonement that He offered to us, and about the restoration that has been accomplished at His direction. During the baptismal service there were four prayers, each of which were given in the name of Jesus Christ, five testimonies born each referencing their Savior Jesus Christ and how grateful they each were to Him, and two hymns, each of which referenced the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We realize in our faith that Jesus Christ and God the Father whom He told us to pray to are two individual beings each united in purpose and in doctrine. Jesus prayed to God His Father that we all might become one - just as they are, so that is a bit of difference in how we look to Jesus. He is every bit our savior and redeemer. I love Him with all of my heart and soul. If you are serious about wanting to understand how Mormons view Jesus Christ, I invite you to look here. jesuschrist.lds.org/SonOfGod?lang=eng I have been a member of this extraordinary faith all of my life and it has been a great blessing to raise my family in this faith. We search the scriptures and do NOT ADD or CHANGE or REMOVE or TWIST the word of God. We are to follow the example that Christ has set. We must confess our sins before God, turn from sin and make Jesus Lord of our Lives. When we accept Jesus Christ we are a "new man". We have been forgiven and our names are written in the Lambs Book of Life. We Seek Jesus every day, we have power and authority in his name. We are not better than anyone. We are simply forgiven and saved. We are going to live with the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. When we do fall, we repent and ask forgiveness. We hate the sin, but not the sinner. We are to be a light in a dark world. We are not saved by any works, only the shed blood of the savior when we accept Jesus into our hearts. We know that we do not deserve the gift we have been given, but cherish it and help others to find the ONE TRUE JESUS CHRIST, SON OF THE LIVING FATHER.

No, we were not missionaries. I converted with my family many years ago. After a few years my entire family knew that we made a big mistake and left the church. I later moved to Ut and married a Jack-Mormon. His entire family was lds. We married in MY church and he became a born again Christian within the year. Also He served as asst pastor in an outreach church to bikers and street people. Weknow the truth and pray for the lost ones in the Mormon church.

Jason Shults: Actually, NO. You have been mislead. There are so many differences between mormonism and Christianity that it would be impossible to list them all. If the bom contradicts, adds, changes or adds to the bible than it is considered 'A DIFFERENT scripture (book) - NOT Christianity. Joseph Smith would have been stoned had be been born in bibical times as he revealed himself to be "false prophet". He was terribly inaccurate and failed miserably as a "prophet". The bible clearly states in the N.T. Book of Revelation "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book; if anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city which are described in this book." I think it is easy to see that the mormon gospel is NOT Christianity and their jesus is NOT the Jesus of the Holy Bible. Joseph Smith and Brigham Young are not in the celestial kingdom but awaiting the White Throne Judgement where they will be cast into Satans abode for etertnity. God Bless you, my friend, I will pray for you to see the light and come to the REAL Jesus of the bible. btw, It is not snowing here, but Ido know how to recognize and shovel $-it

@Ralph Wiggam Yeah it was slightly depressing hearing someone say that they're told and misled into believing that tithing goes to the poor and needy and widowed or some humanitarian causes, but i heard a rumor like only like 0.1% of the money put in tithing, a single penny, i hope it's better, but that doesn't sound very good. if your money is more likely better to end up donated being spent at Walmart, least charitable big organization at 5 cents per 10$?

@@jeffcarr2095 Oh Jeff. . . it's ALL crazy. The secret super special underoos, special handshakes and code words in temples. Baptisms for the dead, polygamy in heaven, ALL of the church history trying to link mormons to ancient history (since proven false), the thirteenth tribe being mormons (that one is way out there), bishops asking young men and women about their sexual proclivities and masturbatory behaviors, patriarchal blessings (eek! I'd hate to have that calling. Being forced to make up a possible future right on the spot!), all of the masonic imagery and symbolism built into every temple, the church asking for tithing before any other financial responsibility is met (including feeding your children) and justifying it by saying "oh but we will give you food from our store house. The bishop will tell you how much you deserve." That builds a whole dependency on the church for impoverished members to even survive they NEED the church instead of encouraging those who can't afford tithing to care for themselves first and do what they can service wise or elsewhere for the community. Should I go on?

Okay....who else started singing the south Park 'dum dum dum dum dum' in time with star wars theme?! Bonus points if you are also so mentally corrupted by musical theatre, that hearing a 'ding dong' doorbell in everyday life, causes you to uncontrollably burst into a solo rendition of 'Hello'....maybe even going as far to put on different voices for each part?!
