I would like to shed some light on L. Ron Hubbard's involvement with Jack Parsons, O.T.O, and Aleistor Crowley. There is an active O.T.O. group, the oldest in the USA in Salt Lake City where anyone can attend what they call a Mass. During the ceremony, you will be able to witness first hand what is meant by "Sex Magick". The organization is not as dark and sinister as portrayed in this interview and definitely has no relationship to Satanism. Both Mormonism and O.T.O. have roots from John Dee, the original spy of Queen Elizabeth of England during the 1500s. John Dee developed a magical practice known as Enochian Magic where he used scrying (looking into a dark glass) to develop an angelic language by contact angels. To mormons this may sound very familiar. The Smith parchment contained what is called angelic sygils which originate from John Dee. All of this information is contained in Mormonism and the Magic World by D. Michael Quinn. Aleistor Crowley barrowed heavily from John Dee, as did Joseph Smith. Later on, as it seems, so did L. Ron Hubbard.

41:30 has got me cracking up laughing. When Chris says that they are trying to create a moon child John says “oh” and I don’t know exactly why, but it has me dying laughing. Probably because John is genuinely shocked and trying to be serious being conscious of how his reaction might seem to people that believe things like that, but I had to watch it a couple times.

I appreciate Chris filling in the background bio of L. Ron Hubbard, as well as the history of the church. I was a member of the Scientology public in the early 80's. I attested to Clear in about 1/4 the time people usually do. I took basic training, basic run downs, auditing through Grade II, and read everything I could. It was a good experience for me, and made me a much better person. To me there were a lot of parallels between LDS teachings and Scientology. (At least, I was able to make the connection.) One thing I like about Scientology is you don't have to accept anything on faith. You can demonstrate the truths for yourself. I used to have trouble being around and understanding people, but the information I gained from my readings in Scientology helped me understand people better because there was technology behind it. Being a techie/engineering type, this appealed to me. Like Mormonism, there are a lot of break-off groups in Scientology which are continuing LRH research. I understand a lot of these members helped Hubbard do research in the early days, and contrary to Chris, LRH actually did research. Much of the information he gained about past lives and the history of the universe, he got from people bringing up items in session. What would be interesting to me would be if multiple PC's said the same thing. How big was his sample size? I hope there are more follow-on interviews. I would like to hear about Chris' life, what he did in the Sea Org, and why he left. I would like to hear why he got involved in the first place, and something positive. They have a great anti-drug program. Much of Scientology is based on Eastern thought, and is actually quite valuable. Billions of people all over the world are into Buddhism, upon which a lot of Scientology is based. If Buddhism is also a fraud, then John ought to have ex-Buddhist and ex-Hindus on the program and expose those religions, too. Bottom line: there is a lot of crap in Scientology, and their institutional organization has gone to hell, just like Mormonism has, but there are some sound principles as well, but they aren't doing the world any good because Scientology copyrights the daylights out of stuff, and they have such a bad reputation that nobody will trust them. Same with organized religion.

Absolutely nothing good about Scientology is unique, and nothing unique about it is good. Narcanon is a con, the only way to 'investigate' Scientology is if you come to the conclusions they want you too, and it's bankrupted and continues to bankrupt and ruin people - while engaging in human trafficking, mostly focused on bringing in vulnerable people from developing countries to work in horrible conditions, for little or nothing, and ripping off government programs to do it. There's nothing redeemable about the plagurized ramblings of Hubbard.

Did L. Ron Hubbard use pick-up lines like "Hey little girl, if you sleep with me, your entire family will be exalted in heaven. If you don't, an angel with a flaming sword will kill me."...?

John, your descriptions of the November 2019 THRIVE Conference are confusing and/or deflating to some of us; and I respectfully ask for clarification. In episode #1189, you talk up the Conference with phrases such as "General Conference for Ex-Mormons", "..for those who have left or are leaving Mormonism", (and similar wordings) yet prior phrases included more-neutral descriptions of the Conference along with invitations to current Mormons inside the Struggle. Many Borderland Mormons are trying hard to make Mormonism work for them within the framework of family and community; and they/we need to know if this Conference is for us. Will there be specific, intentional, targeted presentations and/or discussions for people navigating the Borderlands? We accept that you and your team can create a conference for any audience. We only ask that the Advertisements and Introductions match the Content.

@32:00 John says "before they became secular." Neither the Satanic Temple nor the Church of Satan, currently or historically, believe in a literal satan. He is viewed by them as an archetype.

I'm both surprised and disappointed. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I regard both God and Satan as being actual beings, albeit differing from one another in form and substance, as God kept both His first (premortal) and second (mortal) estates, thus gaining the ability to reach His third (glorified) estate as an inmortal Being, while Satan lost his first estate by rebellion, so is eternally consigned to that estate, unable to progress further. Thus God is a glorified man, while Satan is a dammed, sad damned, spirit, as are those who followed him. I had thought it reasonable to believe that Satanists were as aware of whom they worship as I; it's a revelation to learn that they don't even know that, but regard the being they consider worthy of worship as not even meeting the qualifications to be a being at all, merely a concept. Most peculiar.

Tamara Jessup You are confused because in nearly all other Christian religions, God isn’t a human being.. He became man as the person of Jesus Christ through the immaculate conception of Mary. Mormons are the only Christians who believe in a Heavenly Father AND Heavenly Mother. The triune God...God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost is what other Christians believe. Mormons, from my study of Mormonism with my local missionaries, believe that they are separate beings, not “entities” or energies. Those who follow Satan do not believe that he is a human being.

@@pansprayers 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV Bible [1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV Bible [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 10:9-13 KJV Bible [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
