She was so arrogant! I couldn’t believe she tried to blame the Pals for the failure of the Accords. It’s obvious to everyone that Is-rxel has been sabotaging every attempt at peace because they don’t want a two state solution. They want a one state solution where the Pal people are so reduced that they can NEVER challenge the Jxw*sh ethno state in any meaningful political way; which requires ethnic cleansing. It’s not like that hasn’t been directly articulated as their goal all along or anything. They don’t even try to hide their intentions; they arrogantly think they can get away with genocide.

I never realized how much propaganda was in our education and media until I started to self teach. That is difficult when you don't know what you don't know.

The older members of the Silent Generation are in their late eighties now. They are the last people who can remember what it was like to live in a world where racism felt normal, no one had to worry about the environment, or ever heard of a nuclear bomb. They have been insane for a long time. The Boomers were the first generation born after all those things had started to change. The culture war was originally aimed at them. They and Gen X would become the most gaslighted generations in history. The bottom line is that almost everyone old enough to remember the Cold War came out of that time F'ed in the head in one way or another.

Bar is pretty low. As a millenial I’m here to aid and abet Gen Z. That being said, I feel like if America approaches most foreign policy matters as the following axiom, we’re going to be in better shape. That axiom is ‘Let’s not and just say we did.’ I think if America gets benched for a solid amount of time, we can recover. “Hey America, you want to get in on this beef between China and Taiwan?” America replies, “You know what? I’m going to not and then just say that I did. Peace.” (Lights blunt and goes back to eating meats right off the parilla with Mexico and Canada.)

But sanity doesn't get you elected... You need some kind of insane take to position yourself and secure a victory. Being sane is just plain boring and forgettable when politics are treated like the Superbowl. These days showing up in commercials dressed as a super hero(Argentina's Milei) or end up part of every single scandal known to man(Trump)... heck even being frail, weak and pathetic(Biden) is better then just being a ordinary politician. Since this works so well, what you end up with is either a madhouse or a nursing home within the halls of governance(It's not only a US issue). This is why so many young people have started to look at authoritarianism as something desirable ex. technocracy or even theocracy.

did not Sharon make the claim that a terrorist PLO was better for israel than a PLO that recognised israel ? the fact that israel kills every palestinian representation through history and go as far as invading lebanon when they killed the PLO lradership and still blame palestinians for the ''lack'' of agreements between the two is outrageous.

@@moj1338Another embarrassing repeated claim is Shlomo Ben-Ami's half-quote "I would have rejected Camp David" when in fact he was not talking about his opinion but about the opinion of a diplomat he discussed in a book, and in any case he claims in the same passage that it is irrelevant to Taba and The Clinton parameters And he explicitly said that the failure is entirely on Arafat

What's changed in 29 years? From the perspective of Israel, they disengaged from Gaza and uprooted every Jew living there and turned it over to the Palestinians. And the Strip became a hub for rocket launchers and terrorism. That shifted the Israeli public further to the right because they stop believing that land for peace would work.

He was dead on the money. It was NOT Arafat's fault. Ehud Barak even admitted this several years later, and it's been verified by members of the Israeli negotiation teams. In the meantime, Barak, Olmert, Sharon, Clinton, and Netanyahu actively pushed this "We were SO generous, but Arafat walked away" fairy story and the media dutifully went along with it. Just reprehensible. And now we have the Atlantic Group arrogantly opining and planning their "day after" scenarios. It's clear that the *Palestinians* have never had an honest partner in peace. Not one.

The fiction that Barak and Olmert's deals were generous and unprecedented just will not die. The truth that these deals did not address the right of return in any substantial way, did not resolve the division of Jerusalem and left the Palestinians with less authority than the average US city council are conveniently forgotten. Bill Clinton gave Arafat his word that the US would not assign blame to either party if the talks failed. As was his wont Clinton broke his promise and propagandized both the generosity of the deal and that Arafat had rejected it. The US has never been neutral in the "peace process" and has never used its leverage to encourage (or force) any Israeli government to negotiate in good faith.

Zbig was a hawk who worked in the Carter administration. How the American government has changed. W. Bush, a Republican, was the first president to unconditionally support Israeli right-wingers like Sharon and give them carte blanche to kill Palestinian civilians and steal their land for the settlers. Zbig back then said the ratio of Palestinian and Israeli casualties is 3:1 and almost all the Palestinian casualties were civilian. It was 10 to 20:1 before October 7. Now it is even higher. Disproportionate and over-reaction don’t adequately describe the lopsided nature of the massacres.
