I understand the concept. Your students are very socially skilled. So mutually respectful!! I don’t agree with inviting the children to talk about home life in a whole-class meeting. I agree it is important to encourage them to share with a safe adult if something is upsetting them. To protect the privacy of children and their parents, I suggest not bringing up private family matters in whole-class activities. Morning meeting time is to develop relationships with fellow learners and teachers, share knowledge, learn social and community skills, prepare for the school days, communicate announcements and review the schedule, and prepare for the day of learning ahead. It is not group therapy.

Wow, I love this! The key is to consistently develop the students social emotional skills, which should be the main focus in the classroom. How else are children going to thrive if we are not catering to such vital skills. Children need to learn positive and effective ways to express the emotions they are feeling which does have an impact on their other areas of development. Thank you for sharing, much more success to the teachers and schools that hone in on students social emotional development first!!!!

Yeah! This video makes me happy to see that teachers still take the time to do what's really important with their students. Using time this way is like money in the bank - an investment.

Really struggling with a particularly aggressive group of students this year, and students are trying to figure things out since the loss of the content teacher two weeks ago.. I'm hopeful that integrating some of these suggestions will help build a more cooperative environment

Is there a book or training you can recommend? I love the Morning Meeting Handbook by Roxanne Kriete (looks like that's what you're doing) and I'm trying to get my school to adopt this practice. Would love to be able to suggest a workshop the teachers could go to to learn!

Where can I find out the name and objective of the game where multiple kids were tossing the stuffed animals while in a circle?

If they can not speak English because they are kids , could they use their native language???
