My Mum would have been 18 at the time of this film. Trams featured in a lot of stories she told me from her childhood. Thanks for posting this

There was never a city in this world more ideal for cable tramways than Dunedin. It would be great if money could ever be found to bring a modern version back to the old routes.

Man, this brings back memories!!! Dad rented the old Tram building in Mornington and made Freeway caravans there. When I was a teenager, I used to go there in my school holidays and "help out". Dunedin was an incredible place to grow up.

Its great to see the old videos of dunedin. I must have been about five years old when the cable cars stopped running. The video looks great on my tablet . I start to think are some of the people on the cable car realated to me ? Growing up in dunedin was ok I left there in 1976 and came back for a visit in 1984. I have not been there for 31 years. I do miss the snow down there but not the frezzing cold weather there I have dreames of going back on holiday to dunedin and watch videos of dunedin on you tube. From a nice walm place at the rotorua library or the rotorua mall. When it gets cold up here it reminds me of dunedin weather thanks for putting the video on you tube

The Edinburgh of the south they call it. I call to Dunners often on the ship I serve on, I love the summer evening walks and so nice to see the wrecking ball not used on the city, unlike Welly.

I think the most striking thing was the lack of cars on High St. I hope they get it going again!

Lived by the line in High St. Should never have been removed.

Brings back memories. There used to be a trailer sometimes ,attached to the cable car.

This shows plenty of room for cars and trams. Now that cars park on both sides all the way up High St will this be a problem when they bring the trams back?
