i had one of these in the 70s in same colour harvest gold if i remember lovely little car it was one of my first best cars - no rust no problems just great memories.

Extraordinary how time alters perspective. When this model was introduced, replacing the badge engineered MG/Wolseley they were thought to be the crapest, nastiest things imaginable, a BL joke, but now they look fabulous.

I had one in the 1980's In the end I scrapped it because it rusted faster than I could apply the filler. I did salvage the engine/gearbox which went into my brothers 998 cc Mini. Nice upgrade.

My father had an ordinary 1300, back in 1971, it was great car, unfortunatelly it was not GT

Lovely example and so rare, I had one of these new in 1972, in Teal Blue, but that steering wheel is not original or the wheels, are they the same size as the original wheels ? as they look a little smaller than I remember !

My dad got a brand new 1100 in 1970 in red on its first service the whole underneath was rusty and it kept blowing fuses after that he went back to Ford

Looks to be in very good condition! Has it been bare metal restored or original paint? Couple of points, it has the wrong bumpers, 1300GT versions had no over riders as standard, they had a black vinyl roof, and that is a smaller replacement steering wheel with 'wood' surround instead of the leather the car should have. It is also sitting way too high on the suspension. Is it just over pressured or were the incorrect displacers used or both. Otherwise great car.

JJ Mac quite a few differences on this, style of seats, exhaust, bumpers etc etc. I think the hydros are just pumped a little high on it.

The wheels aren't right either - I think the originals had ordinary steel wheels with a helmet-shaped black and silver cover. It's a beauty though - and how I lusted after one in the early 70s!

deemdoubleu these where also made in Japan right because you had the UK one made in Cowley Oxford or Birmingham. Then this one was made in japan

Mine did and sold as Austin in the U K I think. I don’t remember Morris badged ones

leslie wood There we’re both Austin & Morris for most, but not quite all, of the production run. I had three and (anorak on) remember ALL of the registration numbers !

Remove the surplus Morris badge from the back, put the proper wheel trims and vinyl roof on and it would be perfect! I'm a bit suspicious of the lack of seams at the front corners too - is that a bodge?

You're correct about the lack of a vinyl roof, the car doesn't look right without it. The original wheels also looked better but, in the day, minilite wheels were a popular mod. When I restored my Volvo P1800ES I deseamed it as I thought it gave the body a smoother look. I suppose it's all about taste.
