I had a beautiful wagon and sold it and was so sorry that I did. Years later I bought a 1952 4 door and still have it. It has the split windshield and I really love split windshields. The 4 door is easier to get in and out of but the front door is smaller. My steering wheel is on the wrong side for the US and is a bit odd to drive. The heaters on MM's are a complete joke and so are the wipers but I still love driving it. I absolutely love how the MM's look and the raised headlights are the icing on the cake. They are such a cute looking car! They look like a big toy. I only have one garage space and it gets saved for the MM. Oh yeah, I agree about the brakes, you have to plan your stops

I have one of these, well, I have a 66 Morris Minor 1000 that I run as my daily drive. The late cars are perfectly usable as a daily driver. I'm 22 and have been using one now for 2 years

I had one of these, same year as this one for my first car. mine was a 4 door though.bought from a secondhand and antiques dealer of all things where I lived in Gawler, South Australia. when I first got it it needed a complete brake rebuild from master cylinder through to all the wheels. and like you said, even with brand new brakes throughout they still left a lot to be desired. that aside, it was a fantastic little car, super reliable, ran on the smell of an oily rag and was easy and comfortable to drive for a vehicle from that era. if I had the room to store one I'd love to have another one day. gorgeous little cars.

Brings back fond memories, my first car was a 1959 Morris 1000 2 door, my second car was a 1961 Morris 1000 4 door, how great it would be to own one of those today. thanks for the memories.

As a kid of the 50s and 60s, I saw more than a few of these even here in the USA. I remember seeing a few of them in my high school parking lot. They always reminded me of a British VW Beetle. Similar size and power, but way more Beetles around back then. Basic transportation, economical, and fun to drive.

Great Stuff!!! They really needed the 1000 cc or 1 L engine as in the Morris Minor.The trafficaters were illegal in Canada and if we had a car with them we had to use hand signals.I had one at age 16 and a kid could fix anything with them and they were not expensive

Good looking cars. I appreciate the simplicity. I think it's unfortunate that reviewers of modern entry level cars pan them forgetting they are made for A-B transportation.

In 1978, I bought a 1952 Morris Minor, I believe it being one of the first 'highlights' exported to Australia, it had the split windscreen, was a four door version and I paid $50 aud for it. A year later I sold it for $160 with it's engines almost worn out. I loved it and wished I still owned it.

My future wife brought this same car for me it cost $60, it was my first car in 1969. The brakes didn't really work & I had a rope tied between the inside door handles to keep the door shut as one of the door locks was broken. It wasn't very fast up hills. I remember being late for work one day when I sped into the bosses front yard & the brakes didn't really work fortunately, all the bosses workers jumped out of the way as I hit a tree that stopped the car & me from ramming the bosses house. When your young & stupid any car is great.

My dad bought a 54 ?? Morris. Blue convertible and slow. This reminds me of him.

You could review it's big brother. The Morris major. I own one and it was my daily driver for many years. I'm restoring it again now.

Your 54 model MM is a very tidy car. They are also 3 to 4 wider than its predecessor, watch for that split front screen, I remember those trafficators ( semaphores ). Some aftermarket additions include indicators sharing the side light position. Thanks for sharing 👍 your passion of the Issigonis car 🚗 😀

Would have been worth mentioning the Series 2 was produced after the amalgamation of Nuffield & Austin to form BMC, & is an Austin designed engine. Also the series 2 is the worst Minor produced, inept gear ratios giving a fussy high revving performance compared to the SV engine it replaced. Ps headlamps were raised at the behest of North American regulations not Canadian

The Morris Minor was outclassed by the Australian designed and made Morris Major. The minor was underpowered, too small to carry a normal family of 5 on long distances in Australia and by the time you got to your destination you felt exhausted. No Thanks.

I passed my test in England in 1978. I was taught to brake on the engine and only use the brakes for the last little bit of speed, of course if it be necessary brake at the same time as the engine with that complicated bit of changing down whilst braking (never brake when not in gear or you can slip). Obviously for everyone who learnt with modern cars this seams antiquated but make it your way of life and you soon get used to it. The Morris Minor had beter brakes than some of the cars I had which didn't even have hydraulic brakes - and No I'm no Granddad!!! Of course if you can change the brakes to disc brakes you'll stop beter - facts are facts but drive according to the braking ability of your vehicle and you can have years of pleasure from such simple machines!

I bought a 1951 convertible in 1965 for $50 US., I have owned a half dozen more since and never spent more than $400 US. Unfortunately because of the car's cutesiness their popularity has caused an exponential increase in price. These were basic transportation at one time and now an "accessory" purchased by aging yuppies and now clueless millennials. I worked at a BMC ( Rolls, Bentley, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Austin, MG, Lotus, Morris Etc) dealership in the US 1968-1972 and serviced and repaired many Morris Minors. I consider them one of the finest cars ever made considering their intended use. Far superior to a VW of the same era. I have also owned a 54 ad 59 OXFORD.. likewise superior automobiles compared to the over-bloated iron made in the US at that time. I will be looking at a Morris Minor today... it is a right hand drive 3rd owner. I hope it is "straight", original and rust free .. it could make a fine rally car.. I have a 1275 from a Midget and all the bits to make that possible. Thanks for the video; viewing from Oregon, USA. Considering the car was a "bargain", did you buy it or just capitalize on its existence?

Bearing in mind this is a British designed car, I do not believe that the American or Canadian market had any input into the headlight height, when it changed from the model MM. It was just a development and improvement on the earlier lowlight version as on model MM. My first car was a 1952 minor series II.
