Clearly fast. Could see people easily dance a strange jig to this version. Oh what difference the tempo makes. Oley!

He cut out that verse because the band just kept playing while he was being mauled; they didn't start over so he just picked up the song where it was at.

After that number [Piccadilly Palare], Morrissey asked "I hope you haven't been hammered to your seats?". Then, at the beginning of "Driving Your Girlfriend Home", a fan who was trying to get on stage was brutally dragged away by security. This prompted Morrissey to move forward in order to see what was happening. He then stopped the band and asked "Why does the security have to be so ugly?

We're going to have to have two minutes to do something about the security because this is shit". He and the band then exited the stage to discuss security matters. After 10 minutes, they came back to resume the show, to a relieved roaring crowd.

I feel so bad for him. I am also an adoring fan, but I don't think he has to be mauled. The poor guy couldn't even sing. AFter awhile, it would irritate me to have strangers constantly attack me. There's nothing wrong with shaking his hand or quickly hugging him. Morrissey must not have had good security back then. The bouncers are the other extreme now...like tyrants.

He was extraordinarily patient with his stage intruders back then. It really says a lot about a person--who's also so exceptionally shy, no less--to be so steadfast while being mobbed incessantly. Anyone else would probably lose their mind, and rightfully so if I'm being honest. I can't tell you how many shows I've seen come to a dead stop with a subsequent lecture or tirade from the singer/band over just someone grazing a monitor by accident or whatever.

I don't think this was the Hammersmith. Pretty sure it was Dallas, TX.
