Thank you Morrissey Thanks for helping keep me alive from the late 80s through the early 90s. This is Carolyn in US. Psychologist. Morrissey, most darling person, your solo album got me through the month when I was gifted a 30 day holiday, all my expenses paid by the hospital which employed me in DePaul Hospital, NOLA. This was back in the day when going into the hospital was one version of total heaven. It was going in for a month, and staying with the same exact people for four weeks seven days a week-these people would be inclusive of all three shifts of staff in a closed, very connected (by design) group of fellow patients and a great deal was always going on (activities and drawing and painting and singing, and group after group after group. ) These groups were not stupid, psychoed worksheet, handouts being passed around through circles of people metal chairs. It was circles of people in metal chairs, having powerful and emotional discussions and communion, with each other Length of stay with typically 30 days as opposed to the current length of stay average, which is 1.5 day. Anyhow, back in the past Elysian Fields of hospitalization, and as a result of all of this program of rest and guided communion and assisted interpersonal communication and encouragement of empathy and motivation for and ways to create strategies for coping and also for problemproblem-solving, in critical thinking, and re-interpretation came in the door . I hen we weren’t doing any of that stuff then we lots of free time you can do whatever you need to do for your own self and what I did was pull out my disc man and listen to this album over and over and over so that by the time I left hospital, I could make every intonation of every word that you sung, in this beautiful poetry of music, which gave me enough joy to get through whatever it was that I was going through in the first place which got me sacked into DePaul (the lovely, but, alas, the chained DePaul. I was listening to every day is like Sunday with my big pink headphones on my ears with the long cord going down to mydisc man with my roommate, looking at me as if I were not only annoying, but really really goofy and weird. I was sitting on the floor of our room, completing my application for graduate school to become a PhD Clinical Psychologist . You are a constant soundtrack to this entire process 13 out of 600 applications were selected and one of them was me thank you Morris he did most of all thank you just for the music which is still some thing I go to when I have nowhere to go, and it never fails . Love you so Dr Carolyn.

Growing up in the 80's I was into everything but the Smiths. At the time I simply listened to various bands for the tune rather than what they were actually singing about. From 2010 onwards I started to listed to the Smiths via my mate who kept playing their albums. I realised what I had missed in the Smiths with the lyrics, humour, sarcasm and brilliance. Thanks to my mate I am now a huge fan of theirs, and just wished I had taken more notice of then the 1st time around. Such a shame they never reformed, as they would of packed out any stadium in any country. 👏👏👏👏👏
