Delta and gamma are stable enough to be around without nothing happening, beta are usually very stable too, although if they snap you can forget of escaping alive if you're within a 200 meters radious, alpha class psykers are all either in the inquisition or the adeptus astartes so a normal guardsmen would most likely never see one, and alpha+ and above are literally Doomsday day devices waiting to go boom, i mean if i don't have the means to escape the world they're in, there's not even a point in staying away from them at all.

They probably don't even know that turning into a warp portal is an actual possibility, they just know this guy can throw lightning bolts and their buddy once told them about a psyker who's lightning bolt hit his own team.

As a Son of Corax, The Raven Guard often get associated as the "Emo Edgy Marines" but they are so much more than that. They fight for the oppressed and the little guy and are willing to stay behind back water worlds to assist in over throwing Tyrants all the while doing so with reasonable tactics without much casualties

@@MrDoreius yeah sort of. Corax had 3 axioms. The First Axiom of Freedom is that justice without force is powerless; force without justice is tyranny. This always resonated with me that Raven Guard were freedom fighters for humanity but they don't get a lot of attention for it. It works lorewise, as they also never liked showing off their victories or ranks

Honestly, they’re one of the most Human chapters in the setting, and I’m sure their Primarch’s upbringing had a lot to do with it. Corvus’s pod landed on a mining colony when he and the other Primarchs were yeeted away from Big E, and he got enslaved by the mine owners. Being raised as a slave, you can imagine he wasn’t too fond of oppressive assholes (…even if he would end up working for his dad, the galaxy’s biggest oppressive asshole).

Honestly, it's fairly evenly-spread if you add the successor chapters. That's why I like 40k. You can have Bad Guys or Good Guys(ish) or Grey from just about any faction. I mean, even the Kriegers got serious "Tragic Hero" vibes once.

And thats why the raven guard are my favorite chapter, few first founding legions took their primarchs teachings to heart quite like the raven guard. They care about humans, at least more than the average astartes and less than the average salamander. They dont view civilians as lesser beings that will get in the way, they know that to truly do what their genefather wanted you must empower the people and bring hope, thats why they help people form militias to fight tyranny, they dont do ALL the work, they help people free themselves
