Finally someone who used in game models and not only the render models in the character select screen, mk 1 looks much better than mk 11.

I initially came into the conclusion that MK1 is more of a sidegrade from MK11 graphics-wise. This video proved me wrong; the newer game is indeed more detailed upon closer inspection, especially the hair effects and facial expressions.

Trying not to call General Shao Shao Kahn is so difficult lol

The graphics for MK1 are by far superior but I prefer a lot of the facial designs of MK11 rather than the former. Some are a huge improvement though. A really obvious example is Sindel and Shao. Sindel in MK11 has such a better design to her face and outfit but in MK1 Shao's face is so much better looking than Shao Kahn's face in MK11 by far

The Kitana comparison is apples and oranges to me. I prefer her MK11 face (though I'm biased since they got a Filipina model for her), but I can't deny how expressive her MK1 self is.

The character's eyes in MK11 look kinda of soulless and lifeless, meanwhile in MK1 they look much more human.

I like the texture and art style on MK11 but MK1 has more pleasant vibe to it, the colors are lighter and soothing to watch😌.

I like how Shao comfortably shows his unmasked face everywhere in story mode, he always had a somewhat goofy face in previous games, don’t get me wrong I’m ok with him having a monstrous look since he’s a badboss character and all but his new face is, like Johnny said, mr Outworld Universe

This video is literally a way to tell stfu to those who were trolling MK1 by saying that the face model looks wired by taking some poor quality Screenshots and then comparing it to High Quality MK11 models.

Art direction MK11: Realism MK1: Semi-realist Number of 3D assets' polygons MK11: for PS4 era MK1: for PS5 era (much higher than MK11/PS4 era) 3D models MK11: less 3D sculpting, lots of texture making the ilussion of 3D (not more than PS3 of course) MK1: lots of 3D assets are real scultping now. The texture only gave color and certain part which the details are too many to be made with sculpting. Because the number of polygons is higher and the console can render such ultra higher definition 3D models now.

I actually prefer MK11 Kitana. Both the face model and the outfit are better than the MK1 versions in my opinion. Obviously that’s not to say the MK1 versions are bad though.

This kinda reinforces what I thought was the case from other videos, namely that the faces trend toward being thinner and sharper with less round features. Using some chinese terminology I looked up the best way to describe it is in place of certain characters having pancake faces (so largely flat and round) they're more or less all square faces (with strong jaw and cheekbones) Obviously not a problem for everyone tho. Liu Kang and Kung Lao I think both have the former type of face, and even for those who do have their face shape changed its obviously not like whitewashing or anything

Kuai Liang's face in 1 looks really cool. I think that's my favorite next to Sindel.

I don't think there's any argument that the fidelity of MK1 is superior, but overall i feel the ladies in MK1 have much weaker designs than in MK11. Which is funny, because the men are greatly improved.
