Liu Kang from the past, fused with his present, Revenant self and Raiden in MK11. In MK11 Aftermath, he reset the timeline so now, it's called MK1. It's weird as hell but consistent lol.

Mortal Kombat!!! Looks so clean!! Liu Kang was made into a Fire Thunder God by Raiden and the new Time Keeper at the end of MK 11 rebooting everything in his vision.

What I’m really happy about is how realistic everything actually is! In MK11 the only thing I didn’t like is how unrealistic the gore is. The blood didn’t even look like blood. It looks like red paint. I love the gore in this new one! It looks very realistic!

They named it Mortal Kombat 1 because of the timeline reset that Fire God Liu Kang had made in Mortal Kombat 11. If you played MK11 and its Aftermath DLC, you would've probably understood straight away.

Johnny Cage was literally created based off of JCVD. Even his initials are the same. JCVD turned down the role in the original game.
